I suspect the increased energy demand of a kettle due to scaling doesn't come close. Also you can descale a kettle quite efficiently using vinegar which is a pretty harmless chaemical. You can reduce scaling of your kettle element by using a scale collector which is a densely tangled stainless steel mesh which attracts the limescale and can be easily removed and cleaned.
If you are bothered by the chlorine in water you can fiil a bottle and leave it in the fridge for a few hours until the chlorine decomposes.

Hey i know alot of you guys are talking about how you can save money by switching things off but i know of lots of products that save money while you use them. This for all us students, penny watchers, hard savers is fab. I mean i never leave anything on even if i go the shop (at top of road)! Check this link out, they even sell things to save on water, never mind electricity and ive done research and they are fairly priced.

What 10 things would you explain to me would be the first things that I needed to change about my lifestyle?
Hi
This has been a really interesting thread with some good ideas coming out.
Can I ask, if you are a consumer who is not 'ethical and green' what is it you are looking for?
I'm trying to figure a little more about your question. Is it that you feel you *should* be or that you could gain something *from* being more ethical and green? Or are you making the connection that perhaps green could be a cheaper alternative?
I'll see if I can come up with any other ideas if I know the basis of your question more.
Have any of the other suggestions been helpful to you?

Just to clarify I am ethically minded, well I hope I am but I wanted to see if there was anything I had missed out. I also thought that those who were thinking of becoming more green etc could obtain some information.
I have had some great information from this thread and am really pleased with the response from everyone. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -

Many surveys point to the abuse of vegetarianism as a mask for weight control. The vegetarian diet, a selective way of eating, might precede different eating disorders and increase the risk of developing anorexia nervosa.

You're probably right that many people with eating disorders are vegetarian.
It does seem similar to the argument the most heroin users used cannabis. It's not the same as saying most cannabis users go on to be junkies! :eek:0
