Is your broadband LLU. If not then a MAC code could be used. If LLU then probably no point.

If Tiscali wasn't LLU at your exchange then BT could move BB with a Mac as your line would not be LLU'd. If Tiscali is LLU then you can't move the broadband back, you will have to wait for LR to move before you can go to O2. O2 although LLU this is only for broadband and so line rental stays with BT.
There are two types of LLU. The broadband element can be LLU on its own or you can have full LLU for your line rental and BB.0 -
Ofcom seems to have thought they were doing a favour with LLU but it is made to seem confusing by the companies.
I think there is a database that confuses the issue, my BT line shows up after it goes live and then I can ask for BB to be added to BT but it will be BB LLU added to a non LLU line.0 -

Is confusing. Ofcom needs to do something about migration from one LLU supplier to another.0 -
It is annoying how you get conflicting info. I phoned o2 three times and got 2 different answers.
There are so many forums on this subject!!!!

is it true if you quit TT without transferring to lets say BT, your line goes dead and you have to pay £100 + for a new line even though there is still a box in ya house and a telephone cable linked to the exchange????
TT mention a £30 sessation charge for exchange work.
I went to a telephone exchange in the 80's school trip and it had rows and rows of relay switches. Early days there were operators with jack plugs. Today it must be a small console or something
SO what does the exchange physically do when changing provider?0
