I have been quite overwhelmed by the kind responses !!!

I have spent last few days catching up on other threads and it breaks my heart to see so many people losing their 'babies' ....but heartening to see that good things do come out of it...... a loving home offered to many rescue animals and strays who turn up on your doorsteps!

It's a very hard decision to make, am going to give it a while to see how poor mickey gets on by himself....he has changed but it's so difficult to tell if it's partly because of the house move too...a very stressful time for him !

He is still looking for Tigga, but yesterday he ventured onto the back doorstep with me next to him.....this is a cat who was never timid! Or maybe he was brave when he had his brother with him! He is very clingy at the moment.

Anyway, back to work on Monday so I guess he will either relish in the peace and quiet or get very lonely!

thanks again to everyone for your kind thoughts....hugs...and advice

  • Hi, I was really sorry to hear about your poor cat....it must have been such a shock for you.

Just wanted to say that personally each time I have lost one of my darling cats, as hard as it was at the time, I did adopt another cat almost straightaway as company for the one left behind. Also, it gave me a lot of comfort to think that the cat I had lost would be pleased to know that I had given another needy cat a good home. Helping to settle a new cat in his/her new home took my mind off my grief a bit and it helped me tremendously each time.

Whatever you do, I am sure it will the right decision for you and your remaining cat. x

ah, so sorry for your traumatic experience :( and hugs to all who have been through this.

when my siamese boy Castle lost his sister (litter-mates) he became very distressed and lonely. i had to arrange to have friends pop in and see him whilst i was at work, it was that bad. he would howl (siamese!) so loud my neighbours could hear him through solid brick walls. i had no choice but to find him a friend asap. i found a cat of similar age (15 years) at Siamese Rescue and the very moment i bought Timmy into the home, Castle calmed down, and stopped howling. it took a couple of weeks for them to fully integrate but they are extremely close now. sadly Timmy was diagnosed with cancer last September and will, most likely, be gone by the end of March. I will most definitely be getting Castle another friend, he obviously needs cat company, and as before I will opt for a cat of a similar age - i am not sure Castle could handle a youngster.

do you have an update for us?
