Yes he has, stealing is a criminal offence.
I really do feel for the OP. Words fail me basically.
Apparently it's a civil matter. The police aren't interested. It's like a business or trading debt in the eyes of the justice system.
If one is in debt, one appreciates the safeguards against losing your house and all that. It works both ways though. I could be a bank or credit card company. There are rules on what I can do and can't. He knows them too.
No, I don't even begin to understand it either. Like everything lately, common sense doesn't come into it.
I know what you mean though, and I am so grateful to you and all these lovely people for giving me so much hope tonight.0 -

Why thank you! How flattering! (I think?)
I'm 52. Feeling 82.
Yes, I must stop being so negative! Thanks for that advice.0 -
See - never even met you and there you have a guy saying you look younger than your age :-)
lol - sorry trying to cheer you up....2010 - year of the troll

LisaWaters - Sorry I've no specific advice - all I can offer is a big virtual hug. I hope it all works out for you.
Never-In-Doubt - I may not agree entirely with your pro unenforeability stance but I'm seriously impressed with your actions on this thread. Nice work...0 -

I think a virtual hug is in order here too :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: - sod it, lets have a group orgy lol (not like that!):p
Thanks for your comment but you know what I always say, I don't get involved in the moral side of things - only the legal side and this, morally stinks but legally is a joke.
I just wish the law was different, such a shame. What, does it really need for someone to go and top themselves for action to be taken? Is that what this country is coming to now?
Joke is in fact an understatementThe guy should be hung, drawn & quartered in my opinion and i've no qualms in making a phone call if the OP wants him to vanish on a container headed to japan for a year or so.....

Lisa I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I know it is hard to be positive when things are looking bad (I suffer from depression) however I take pleasure in the free things in life - nature, a beautiful sun rise etc.
Have you tried a local church,(Yes Im a Christian - no Im not trying to convert you). Many churches run schemes to help people in distress - food banks, clothing, a listening ear the list could go on.
An old church I attended had volunteers who would do basic DIY jobs - they may not be able to complete your house but they may be able to help you get a room finished. I dont know because Im not in your area I just couldnt read and run. Hopefully things will improve. Keep smiling and keep talking or should that be typing...:rotfl:0 -
Hi Lisa, (MSE NEWBIE - SORRY NO EXPERT)
So sorry to hear you've had such a bad run of things. Had similar problems myself and know the effect it can have on your health. (Told my doctor I was convinced an unseen force was working against me because nothing went right!
surprised he didn't have me commited right there and then).
I sincerely hope this nightmare ends & that the builder responsible for causing you such stress and financial difficulty gets his just desserts!!! It's infuriating that he gets to live comfortably after leaving you in such a mess. Sorry I have no answer to give but sincerely hope that things do turn out well for you & you eventually get your dream home. I also hope that the builder gets whats coming to him. They do say what goes around, comes around. I really hope so. In the meantime, take care of yourself. Bad enough he's got away with your money thus far, don't let him take your health too. If all else fails, do you reckon he declared all income to the tax man. Taxman is at least someone who could get nasty little worm locked up for fiddling!!! Very best of luck to you with everything.PROUD MEMBER OF

I hope Martin can help you in some way!
Never in doubt it is really good of you to ask him for some light here.
I must say in my time on this forum i have never been so worried about a poster! Makes other things minor in comparison.
What gets me is how can someone do this to someone else :mad:DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

It has occurred to me more than once that I seem to be a magnet for things going the opposite to how I need them to! Getting used to it! Maybe it's about negative thoughts or feeling positive. Thing is so much has happened recently I've almost forgotten who I used to be. I will try and take a bit more care of myself. Difficult when things keep getting worse!
I could grass him up I guess but he'd know it was me, which I don't want to add to my problems. I have a few ideas on ways to make his life a bit more exciting. And I don't mean ordering pizzas to be delivered... It will wait until the right moment!0
