    Hi Mike

I'm very much an occasional lurker on MSE but your thread caught my eye. Glad that the threat of the TV crew seems to have got a reaction from the rip-off builder.

I was just wondering what happened with the local news papers and the magazines like take a break? And a word of advice, if you do decide to sell your story to the magazines, go through an agent. You can get much more for your story than if you go direct to the publications. I got £1400 from a magazine, and then a further £500 each from a daily paper and a different magazine for my story a few years back. I didn't have to pay my agent either, she got her fee from the publications. Helped me out when I was totally flat broke.

    Cheers

I guess you'll have to play this one by ear...

Just one more thought - if he were to offer to finish the work on your house at his expense, would you take it?

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

I'm talking to another local rag on Thursday. They are worried about the legalities. It's pretty tightly tied up. The main big paper for the region got back to me and are keen to run the story but can't based just on what I say. He asked if I would invite him to attend the next hearing (that'll freak Mr Brickie out!) then he can report anything he wants. I shall be doing that.

Take and Break and My Story rejected the story. It could have worked, and was a brilliant idea, but that's the way it goes. They seem to want a formula with emotional turmoil. Given time I could rack that up I expect! I will try again once they've forgotten me , and give it a different spin. (I Was A Cowboy Builder's Love Child? Covered In Dust But I Knew I Would Always Love Him? They Called Him Plumb Bob For A Reason?) I'll use an agent as you suggest. If you have the skills (sounds likely) and the time, feel free to do a treatment and fly it, and we'll split the cash. Seriously.

Local radio and television - not a sausage. If I had time I'd phone and 'sell it in' but the BBC programme trumps everything else into a cocked hat. Whatever that is.

    Thanks Emma x

Hello Mike glad all went well with the USS Battleship, sorry to hear you won't be able to have your boys over for the weekend, but as others have said, I'm sure it will fly by and you'll have so much to chat about when you do see them.

Good luck for your tribunal tomorrow, hope all goes well for you.

You know, regardless of your up and coming TV appearance, you have become quite the celebrity on MSE too, seems like there are loads of followers of your thread now, like new posters every day! I had a thought about the BBC cancelling tomorrow - do you think the presenter was going to be Kristian (?) Digby? (I wonder what he died of?).

Anyway, as you know, I am an avid follower of your thread now and really enjoy popping on to find the latest installments. Congratulations on your phone call to Bodgit n Scarper Builder! I hope if he finally pays up, he pays what he owes plus interest!

Remember also, if he has so many CCJ's against his name now, he's probably not going to get a re-mortgage - well certainly not one with an interest rate he likes! Ha!

I wonder if you knew who the other CCJ's were obtained by if you could contact them with a view to getting them to apply for Charging Orders with a longer term plan of forcing a sale? I don't really know much about CCJ's but maybe he's being a nice little builder and paying what the judges have ordered him to pay on those, in which case they wouldn't be able to go for the CO. Just a thought.

Wow! What a difference a couple of weeks makes! I bet when you posted your story on the 17th Feb, you never dreamt you would be so much more positive as you are now.

Loving the sense of humour! Keep it up!

    Best wishes and take care.
