Wow. So pleased and happy for you that this nightmare will be finally drawing to a close. I can imagine how overwhelming this all feels for you, the end of that story the start of a new life for you all and a brand new home to boot. Well done for everyone who is helping out, you are all stars, I wish I lived a little nearer so I could [STRIKE]come look at all of those hardworking sweaty men[/STRIKE] help out. :rotfl:
You so deserve this after all you have been through. I cannot wait to see the before and after pics. Your message you wrote about sitting in the cafe sounded so happy and had a contentment to it. The start of a new life mate. Well done, I am so happy for you. :T
Thank you very much! Nice to see you again.0 -
Ok, I FINALLY caught back up and popped out of lurkdom. I wanted to say how brilliant everybody on here has been in helping Mike to get to where he is. I can only say that this thread has helped me to put my life into perspective and appreciate that asking for help, as hard as it may be, is sometimes the only way to move forward as there are always people who are willing to put their own woes aside to help those less fortunate.
Mike reading through your posts has been very moving. You started off with desperation and frustration at the situation and I think that you have been through every emotion imaginable. One thing that stands out throughout is your sense of humour. Despite all that you have been through you have managed to remain in some kind of control and get things sorted. Asking for help was the ultimate in controlling your situation. I am sure that your experiences and posts will help numerous people and I see a new career path for you. I dont want to trivialse your illness as I am sure that you still have a lot to deal with there but I sense that after next week you will have a much better platform from which to launch your new life. I am also sure that you will still be supported after the fact in anything you do.
Thanks so much. Asking for help was my biggest problem. I thought being isolated and independent was a good thing.
It's not, but lots of people think it is.0 -
Evening all, just popping on to say hi before I nip off for a bite to eat.
Hope all are well.
Mike, you must be getting so excited! I know I am! I've got my leave booked and approved. Our new bosses seem to be bending over backwards to accommodate us - long may it last!
Must nip over to JJ's thread after something to eat and see if I can offer any advice, if not, just to let him know I haven't forgotten him.
SB and Skintdragon it's good to see you back and posting again! Missed you.
Mike, your speech a few pages ago made me cry! Please stop it! You write so well, I am envious. You really should think about writing professionally.
Anyway, as I said, I'm off to get something to eat before Criminal Minds comes on.
See you all later,

I agree, asking for help has always been my biggest problem too but when you finally do its amazing how much people want to help.
Thank you also for taking the time to read and reply to every single message. That is something that has stood out for me from the beginning of the thread. You seem to a be a truly genuine guy and so deserving of the support you have. One thing I want to echo is what Princess Sparkles said. When all the furore dies down I reckon you will need people then because when it all goes quiet you will probably feel like you have been hit by a ton of bricks. Make sure that you dont retreat to your old self of not asking for help.
I hope that you are enjoying your time away from the house and from what I hear I really hope that you like leopard skin. Once all the excitement is over next week I think Mike will be walking around like a cheshire cat, with a big grin, getting used to all sorts of new fangled things like running water and lights that go on and off :rotfl:
I am hoping that every time he finds something he hadn't noticed in the house he will be back on here to tell us all.
That is, if he has time. I suspect he will be doing guided tours for some time to come:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

I so will! The idea of switches on the wall for lights is weird. I've got used to plugging them into a trailing socket.
And I made a pizza yesterday. Aren't ovens BRILLIANT!
I'll have the boys there Saturday and not sure about Sunday, then it will be a real come-down. I expect, like a cat moving to a new home, I will go around sniffing things for a while.
And weeing in the corners.
Must buy some Dettol...0 -

It never occurred to me not to reply to as many messages as I can. People have been so generous with ideas and support! The internet connection here is a bit intermittent so I'm avoiding writing anything long as it keeps getting wiped. Grrrrr.
Incidentally, Niccatw has had some family illness but is hitting the road as soon as that's sorted. She'll be in LA (as the locals call Littlehampton) after the weekend.
It's not because she's a slow driver.
She's seeing another friend from the saff before coming here.0 -
