Not sure exactly which days I am coming down yet and have been struggling to find accommodation close by at a reasonable price. However my other half does some work in that area & was telling one of his hotels about this thread and what was going on.

They have said "The White Horse at Storrington (12 miles out off Littlehampton) have said they will offer very special deals to anyone working on the DIY SOS project. Just phone 01903 745831 and say your with DIY SOS for a quote"

Don't know exactly what the offer will be but 12 miles isn't too far me thinks!

(He did also mention that he was slightly concerned about me going off on my own to meet up with a load of strangers but I explained that we are all still relatively normal!!!)

:D.. My OH is not used to me going away anywhere.....EVER!

Guess how much grief I got tonight when I told him I'm going! :D Not impressed when I said I might be staying above a pub..:rotfl:Suddenly he thinks HE should look into it for me and asked who will look after our DS!!.................Ummmm? I kinda hoped he would! :rotfl:

Luckliy my OH is used to me and my madcap ideas!

And he spends each weekend with his daughter so I always do what I want to do then :T And I want to go to Littlehampton to wield a paint brush or move rubble or make tea one weekend and I want to go to the reveal on the 18th (If my boss will give me the day off!) :j

Sometimes we just have to do what feels right :T

Just need to make sure I have somewhere affordable (& safe to stop him worrying too much) to stay before I fully commit. But that's sort of the plan so far......

Poosmate - good to see you back! Last time I saw you post, I think you were having had enough of MSE? Can't remember what thread that was on though, so I'm sure there was a reason behind it.

I'm probably going to stay in the YHA - £16/£18 per night. I know MerryWidow has booked into one of the B&Bs, not sure which one though.

Butting in, for which apologies - just saw your YHA mention as I was closing up?/down? for ce soir[means the same in way up] and I'll just repeat my mantra about using Mr T points>vouchers, as YHA and SYHA are in the Deals scheme...means you are not handing over cash and pn cost is a quarter of what is advertised. Redeem a few vouchers at £4>£4.50 pn instead?

    Mike,

Just out of curiosity (I read the whole thread many moons ago and may have forgotten the finer details), who recommended Mr. Bridle to you? Are you still in contact with the person who recommended him?

Hope you're having a fine evening; I have just been to the gym, so am goosed! :A

    Thanks for the PM Mike.

I didn't want to overload this thread with my problems so I have created a new one under 'Ripped of By Builder'. I know I spelt off wrong but I spent ages writing my details and rushed the post.

Speak for yourself Matty - I will never be normal - how boring!!:rotfl:

SB and I are combing the local area for rooms for MSE'rs. She has booked a few and I found a single for the 18th, on the beach, near Mike. If SB doesnt need it I will offer it up on here. 12 miles is a long way home at night!! Drinking and Driving - I don't think so.

SB and I also talked about moving rubble and carving out a garden. I suggested to Mike that we pile the bricks up and make a BBQ.

Will let you know tomorrow if we find a B&B close to Mike. What days do you want and Max price?

    Evening all,

Psycho, thanks for the wb, yeah I have been going through a bit of a time. Can't say it's a bad time just a weird time, swinging between aggressive and contemplative so have been hanging out on Discussion Time where you can always find an argument going on - you got to have a thick skin to go in there! lol It's character building!

Never been to a YHA place so wouldn't know what to expect, I think I'll be booking into a place with a bed and walls and toilets and stuff. lol

Skintdragon, I hope you can make it and I'm sorry I've been gone for so long!

Oh yeah! While I remember it, Oi! You! Dude with the girly name! Yes YOU Lisawaters! I just remembered that comment you made about me being difficult!!! Hffff! Can't wait to meet you!

SB, thanks for the wb, I got your messages and have responded. Yes, I'm up for the sequel. Brains? Hmm I guess sometimes when the fog clears I have moments of clarity. Commitment? Hmm some would say I should be committed!

I'll make some calls in the morning and let you know tomorrow what, where and when.

    Happy, thanks for the wb.

Aylana, we need to be careful about naming and shaming due to libel and defamation claims. A website would be excellent though. I was thinking maybe there could be a section of "Most NOT Wanted" where all those who have already been outed by various tv shows could have a profile. Maybe we could research the older ones and find out what they're up to now - keep them honest! lol I thought by using those who have already been "outed" there is less likelihood of us falling foul of libel/defamation claims as it's already been said by the tv company. *Note to self: Do a law degree on Slander (lol).

Hi Niccatw, good to be back thanks. Professional and regulatory bodies sound good. Government too when they decide they've finished settling in and actually ready to start governing! lol

MatyMoo, thanks for that, anyone got any idea how much a taxi will cost from Littlehampton to there? Thanks for referring to us as "normal" too! lol that made me laugh! I hope you can make it.

Ampersand, thanks for that info about Mr T and the YHA.

JohnnyJet, well done for starting a thread. I really hope you will find the help and support that you need. I think I can speak for many people on here that so many of us are so pi55ed off with the law, that these builders can rip people's lives to bits and leave them in tatters. A lot of us have been through a journey with Mike and feel the injustice of his and other cases needs to be addressed. I feel very strongly about this. I can't promise that I'll watch your thread as I have this one, but please rest assured that this will not end with Mike's reveal. Hopefully we'll be able to help you and others like you more effectively in the future. Watch this space!

Merryw, I'm planning to drive down on Thursday 17th and drive back on Sunday 20th. I think I might have somewhere (through SB - thanks for that) for Thursday/Friday night, guess I'm going to have to throw my tent in the boot just in case for Saturday night!

Mike, hope all is well for you. Looking forward to meeting you and all who will be there from here. I'm really quite excited.

    Best wishes to you all.

Re the website idea - I'm sure that just helping people know where to report cowboy builders, what signs to look out for, what to do in advance ie getting recommendations, several quotes, checking registry trust etc, how the legal system works, what your rights are etc would help lots of people - you don't necessarily need to go down the naming and shaming route as this could prove difficult with the lgal side I would have thought.
Even a static site with factual info on would help lots of people as providing a forum etc would be more complicated I would have thought - perhaps start small and if demand is there build up?

UPDATE: I'm meeting the director today, and the whole film crew will be here tomorrow filming interviews with the boys and me. The project manager will be here on Friday to discuss what if anything needs to be done structurally before they start the main work, but it looks like there is probably nothing much, which is a huge relief.
