I contacted Sky just the other day to say that I was considering cancelling my subscription due to the current financial situation and the need to cut my outgoings. They talked me out of it by offering SIX MONTHS subscription at HALF PRICE!! I phoned my mum who said the same thing and got the same offer! Worth a try for a bit off the bill?

Not wanting to be controversial, but have you saved? If your intention was to cancel your subscription then you have not.

I went from paying £70+ per month for HD, multi room, sport and movies to only £19 since the new year!!!

I was paying £23 but phoned up 3 hours ago and removed 4 mixes to save £4 extra per month I feel very pleased with myself!!!!

It really wasn't worth that much but more than happy to pay £19 per month and still get BBC, ITV, C4 in HD!

BBC and ITV1 HD are both available free to air and therefore free of charge. Is C4 HD worth £19?

Ah sorry...

I pay the £19 for the two mixes I have. I'm happy to pay £19 for what I get and the fact I still get them HD channels is a nice bonus. I believe you only need a valid viewing card for C4HD too, so its also free.

I was about to leave and move to virgin. I rang and haggled - in the end i got a free hd box, free installation amongst other things. They left about 3 hours ago. HD makes such a difference. I am big believer in if you don't ask you don't get...so if you are unhappy. Tell them that you are going to cancel and you'll get up grades or freebies.

Doesn't work - I cancelled yesterday as they didn't offer anything to keep me!! 8 years down the drain!!

It does work, just rung up to say we were trying to cut costs, got offered the 6 months at half price deal... suppose it just depends who you get when u call up:j

But are you now tied to another 12 month contract with Sky, meaning there's no way they'll extend the offer in 6/12 time?

The offer i was told that it was 6 months for 1/2 price then after six months i can ring up and see what other offers they are doing, no mention of being tied into a 12 month contract again....

That's great, but I'd check that as Sky have been known to sneak that clause in.
