Motability good value?

I have recieved HRM for the last 6 years and thought long and hard about getting a car on Motability.
I currently have a good reliable car 03 plate which I have had for 5 years, I drive about 4000 to 5000 miles a year. My tax is free because of my HRM, insurance costs me about £250 a year. Because of my low milage up keep is very little, it's sailed through the last 3 MOT's. I have had one set of tyres, brakes and a new battery since I bought it.
If I got a car from motability it would probably cost me about £2000 up front as I need a certain type of car (auto, higher up) then it would cost me about £200 a month in benefits at the end of 3 years I would lose the money I put down on it and have to find more.
For someone like me I do not see the benefit.

I have a daughter who is severely disabled in a wheelchair so our requirements as a family are quite rigid.....after speaking with mobility i would have to make an initial down payment and the lease would be 5 years for a wheelchair minibus. the downpayment would have been around £4,000 depending on make of vehicle (but there is a grant to help low income families to help with this), After doing the sums £45.00 mobility allowance for 5 years plus the down payment we figured it was too much, plus there is a limited mileage and any extra you pay a price per mile. We ended up buying a fiat doblo on ebay, 4 years old already adapted for £2,000 low insurance, mobility road tax, so it worked out better for us not using the mobility car hire scheme.0

When my son was younger we looked into it but decided it was going to work out more expensive for what we needed.0

I chose against motability for insurance reasons. Should I improve health wise and no longer qualify for dla if I'd been on motability scheme I would lose my current no claims bonus I currently have.
I have my first motability car and 10 years NCB, to protect my NCB we have had the insurance on our other 2 cars changed from me being a named driver to main driver for a couple of months, I do drive one of the other cars and its cost nothing for us to protect my no claims and I have the letter from my last insuror and our other cars current insuror if I decide to go back to buying new zero rated VAT cars again.0 -
I wasn't aware that if you chose a motability car that it would affect your no claims bonus. Can you explain why, sorry I may be a bit thick;)0

When you take out a mobility car you are insured by them, through Sun Alliance i believe, on a fleet insurance. Your current NCB are not used. If you do not use your NCB within 2 years it expires. One way around this is to buy an old banger near the end of the second year and insure it.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Thought I would just let you know that when I was ringing around for insurance that companies would give me full now claimes bonus as long as I had not had a claim on my mobility insurance. They even did the same for my partner who was a named driver on my car. All you have to do is ask and they give it well all the ones I asked did. Thanks for any help and advice given

Hubby has a car on mobility- it is a godsend to be honest- not having to worry about paying for MOT, Servicing and tax and Insurance. Before that we had a clapped out Mondeo which we were forever spending money on, so its worked out great for us. We now have a reliable new car to help hubby to get out and about.:D0
