Co-OP and the tale of age verification

I suppose it boils down to the fact that they have the sauce, you want to buy it, they want you to prove your age.
No ID no sauce.
Have something else for dinner.
We had the same sauce, from Sainsbury. It was very nice. I was not required to show my girlfriend ID before I ate it.It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

I'm now 33 but during my 20's I would have been aware that I could get checked for ID for any product containing alcohol, that includes chocolates. Quite widely known isn't it or is that just me?
I noticed you choose to leave the fact it contained wine in it out of your description!
It doesn't contain any alcohol if cooked [alcohol boils off at about 65 degrees]; and no - I've never once been age checked and do all my own shopping and have done since I left home at 17; a whole 25 years ago.0 -
I agree it's very silly, but I'm generally anything for an easy life, so I'd take my ID with me just so as not to give them the satisfaction of turning me down. Mind you, I'd be elated to be mistaken for an under 25 year old to be honest."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Aah, I get it - you got so p1.ssed up on the sauce that you've decided to go MENTAL and post two whole threads on the topic. I see :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
obviously in future I shall be bulk buying Chicken Tonight and then selling it on to my local youth.

Some people may like their Chicken Tonight uncooked so they can enjoy the full flavour of the wine (and the salmonella granted).Male.

Doesn't make any difference. Products containing alcohol whether cooked or not will have prompts at the till to check ID.
The point is if you get checked for ID (even if infrequently) surely it's easier to know of the possibility rather than having to throw your toys out of your pram everytime you get asked for ID!
Do they - all of them? I've never seen anyone checked for cooking sauces before.0 -

Surely it would be better for the staff in supermarkets to operate some form of common sense...
I guess you work in retail? It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

I wonder if they ID people for alcohol sanitizing gel, which is actually misused by some people.0

What 'they' don't realise is all this does is make alcohol EVEN MORE attractive to the kids of the future.
Personally, I've never had chicken tonight, and never will - but I will defend the rights of anyone who wants to purchase it without having to identify themselves!!!0
