Yes, I must admit I was struggling with the concept of 'left over doughnuts' myself!

Just resurrected this recipe from the summer and I'm trying it with a new 'twist'. Asda had tonnes of bread and cakes reduced to 10p the other night, so as well as stuffing my freezer full of bread, rolls, crumpets and scoth pancakes, I bought a really long raspberry jam swiss roll for 10p. Opened it last night and to be honest it wasn't very nice. Very 'processed' tasting. So I've used about 1/2 of it for 'Minx's Delight', the 2007 variation!

I've got 6 leftover doughnuts so thought I'd try Minx's Delight. I dont have any cream, but I've got loads of milk. I was planning on soaking the doughnuts with milk, bunging in raisins or dried apricots. Once its soaked I was going to chuck a tin of custard or evaporated milk on it and stick it in the oven. How does that sound?

We seem to have 5 left over doughnuts after my grand daughter had a friend to sleep over at the weekend.

Being as always loathe to throw anything away, has anyone any suggestion what to do with them? I was thinking along the lines of a bread and butter pudding type of thing but I suspect it might not be gratefully received. Has anyone any other ideas?

(When I eventually get my chickens there won't be any problems with leftovers!)

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi Filey,

This thread has some ideas that may help:

I'll add your post to it later to keep the suggestions together.

If you don't want to use them staight away, they do freeze well for about 2/3 week's, that's the longest I'v put them in for[pair of ganett's in house]

Thanks to everyone for all the things to do with doughnuts. Very creative. And thanks for the link to the other doughnut question.

Another idea that has come to me is a kind of Queen of Puddings, where you use breadcrumbs or in this case doughnut crumbs. You mix the crumbs with milk and egg yolks and lemon zest, then you make meringue mix with the egg whites and pile it on top and bake it in a slow oven.

Puddings are always so fattening! Very annoying.

Agreed. One of the beauties of bread and butter pudding is it lends itself to most bread based products. I had particular success with a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding at Easter.

However I feel that a key point has not been answered - are they filled donuts or ring donuts? Filled ones may be better frozen, or warmed up slightly and eaten ASAP.
