Is there a fee for it? :o

No fee - again, I just enquired at the registry/student services who informed me that under the freedom of information act, all exams were held and able to be viewed. An appointment was arranged.

The lecturers did not tell me i could view my exam papers so it's always worth enquiring elsewhere. I'm not sure if it was ignorance on the lecturer's part - considering their salaries

Thank you so much all of you :T :D it's nice to get some encouragement and support for a change!! :o

    I've done an interesting calculation...

Initial number of Biochemists at Level 1 = 15
Current Biochemists cleared for Level 3 = 9

    Therefore 6/15 x 100 = 40% failure/dropout rate.

Now doesn't that say something about the department?? How I'd love to email that to my department but they'd just turn on me I think :o

I've emailed them to say I can't resit the second year due to cost and accommodation issues so my only options are to resit or leave. No reply yet :rotfl: :o

No, please do not get to the stage of emailing them that, remember you are dealing with people not machines and unfortunately it never pays to upset those who are in positions of power over you.

Besides, its not unusual at all to have that sort of drop out rate. I studied architecture, at UCL years back (which is considered to be a pretty good school for architecture), and our course failure rate beat that hands down!. We started 1st year with 52 of us, by the end of the 1st year we were down to 41 and by the end of the second 24, and imagine this out of the 24 still hanging in there only 8 of us passed at the end of the 3rd year!

Generally, Uni courses are easy for most in the 1st year (which if the system still works in the same way, the marks do not count towards your final degree), slightly harder in the second year and a real push in the 3rd.

Fight on, but as others have said get those multiple choice answers checked out. It could be that your mark was too light on the paper or you didnt do as they asked to demark the answer, whatever it seems strange to get 0 for any exam, so get it looked into!

Good luck, Im sure you will make it on the resits.
