Have to ask this, but have you been chasing this up properly?

I say this, because I've had a case today where the student came through to me swearing their mouth off that they still had no money, when I wrote to them in June and August asking them for more information. It's taken them until now to actually contact us about it.

Not saying all students are like that, but it does happen. I still have 13 pended applications relating to 09/10, the oldest going back to March last year.

I spoke to the uni they are going to try and help but the income section will not budge even though they know all the facts. Definately not the only student in this predicament the problem seems to have arisen from the merger of lea's to one finance dept. hopefully so progress can be made mp might be on the case fingers crossed

Also speak to your student union, if you haven't already. If your university is kicking out multiple students whose fees haven't come through yet - through no fault of their own - they should be making a lot of noise about this.

Have you been in touch with whoever deals with hardship loans at your university?
  • This has been chased up with student finance at least twice a week for i dont knoiw how long it would be more but it cost me 8 pound in credit a time as people can appreciate i have very limited funds. Uni are trying to look into it but they dont know if there is anything the union said the predicament is common this year.

How far are you along in the process?

I second this. They also told me I shouldn't worry about my rent until I get my loan.

So it was more information, which they probably would have said every week if you'd been calling up...
  • not more information they had it yesterday they said they had it today they dont have it they have lost it again i spoke to three people yesterday who all said they had everything they have it twice its been lost internally somewhere
  • I wish people would stop asking if this has been chased up properly I would not be resorting to such drastic measures if it hadnt. I have a four year old daughter to worry about I havent just left it they have had everything they have needed twice my local mp is now helping as is a manager in the finance company because it has been handled ridiculously from start to finish
  • ok... calm down - it is amazing that your uni isn't helping you. i can hardly believe that they are leaving you in this position - that's why people are asking. it seems so unfair - don't take it as an insult, take it that a lot of people see your situation as just a ridiculous thing for the uni to put you in.

to be honest, in your position, i would be sitting in student services until they did something to help me, kicking up the biggest fuss they'd ever seen! it would probably end up with me being removed by security though. i'd be harassing the uni twice as much as student finance because face-to-face can be more fruitful than on the phone.

just to check though - have you applied for a uni hardship fund? it's been asked a few times and i haven't seen a reply. it may help in the short time while the mess is sorted out.
