I have never had my application delayed and all my finance has been sorted within 2-4 weeks of applying (inc. declaration). My 4th and final year has been sorted already.
Do remember that your student loans are being organised by your local authority whereas (it appears) the OP's daughters application is being dealt with centrally. Which is where the problems come from...0 -
I must say that I am surprised that they are still processing last years loan applications as I have already been approved for 2010 loan & grants.
Are they waiting on some evidence etc from yourselves?0 -
Just to add to this, I applied on time last year, and today have been told they've finally had time to update my information and pay out the special support grant. They are very slow, and sometimes its just off their own backs. I've had my MP involved twice, and the university, who were supportive luckily. Student finance have been dreadful this year, though, and it's dreadful that they are taking applications for next year when they haven't even sorted out this year!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0

I believe there is an element in luck but I also believe there is an element of common sense of doing is ASAP.
The last year I applied, which was in 2006, my application was in by April. It took until November for me to get any money. I'm not saying the SLC get it wrong for everyone but they certainly have a reputation for getting it wrong for a lot of people and it does seem to have got worse in recent years.0 -

When I went to Uni aged 34, I also had a mortgage to pay, apply for funds and loans to complete, and guess what, I managed to get the funds.
Pity you didn't apply for some social skills when you applied for funds and loans.

have you spoken to someone about emergency funds? access to learning and things like that?:happyhear0

Thanks for that Freddies notts but actually i did get my paperwork in time and can prove that i did they lost it. Second of all I'm 24 with a child and a roof to keep over my head i'm not asking for money owed to myself just the universities money. My post helped by letting other people know that this is a serious problem. Anything else you want to know just ask0

Have you managed to speak to the Uni, show them your paperwork etc, and ask them about emergency funding, as mentioned above?? They will surely be able to see that it is not your fault from your paperwork? I can't see why they would kick you off the course, as presumably youre not the only student in the uni in this situation.0

I spoke to the uni they are going to try and help but the income section will not budge even though they know all the facts. Definately not the only student in this predicament the problem seems to have arisen from the merger of lea's to one finance dept. hopefully so progress can be made mp might be on the case fingers crossed0

will the SU act on your behalf with the uni?0
