    Hi

I've been reading your diary for a while and I just wanted to say that you have my sympathy as I have been there. We had a business making home made chutney and I do remember the robbing Peter to pay Paul business and choosing which bills not to pay to so as to have money for ingredients.

We did a lot of craft fairs and agricultural shows selling direct to the public, are there many around in Ireland? It might be a quick way to boost your income.

Thanks Helen, do you still have the business?

Yes we have some fairs. markets etc. DH is at a local market right now, which brings in about £100 for a mornings work - not so bad but not great. He has been keeping eyes peeled for some others because, as you say, they do bring in quick money!

No we gave it up for various reasons:
    1. A £7k tax bill
    2. Lack of business during Foot & Mouth
    3. Promoter went bust owing us £500 due to F & M
    4. No money to invest in the business to take it further
    5. Feeling that OH wasn't pulling his weight
    6. Wanting evenings & weekends to spend with the family (I was also working FT)

But it was difficult to say goodbye to it, we were making a good product that people liked, things just became too much of a struggle all round.
