RMC, just found your diary. I managed to read to page 14 but then I wanted to post to say Well done on your journey so far. I skipped to the last page and when I got there it started off with crying so had to go back a couple of pages. Seems like you hit a very deep valley yesterday but these things happen. You are doing so well and you have made me laugh out loud at some posts. . I really needed that today as I think I joined you at the bottom of the valley. I especially like the champagne post. I have a bottle waiting for something special but it could equally be for a pick me up. AllI can say is that the next hill will be easier to climb and hopefully a bit smaller. Your friends on here have been great support and you are a very lucky lady to have found them all but you dont need to be told that.

    Keep your chin up.

    Thank you so much Cherisong!

Just sipping on a glass of champers at the minute - only one more left!

As I have posted before, I have kept the cork as a momento!

Just noticed you have a lovely Ricardo Branso credit card, I cant wait to get rid of that demon!

Oh Lordy yes, without the people on here I could not have climbed the mountain, but they keep shoving me along, thank God for them!

    Hi Reddie!

YAY to OH's receipts tallying with the rest for once! :j If he keeps it up, I'll take everything I ever said about him being tethered to the pie production line back. ;)

Also, enjoy the champagne: I am currently enjoying Irish-brewed white wine made by my lovely first cousin's long-term girlfriend, and it's a corker!

Yep, I am a virgin babe too. Like the way you put it about Necker Island. Although to be honest I am more mad at MBNA who took it over. I too have had my rates jacked. This is the card I am determined to shift as quickly as possible. Last month was £105 interest and they had my minimum payment at £115!!!!!! Dont get me started though on the poorest people being ripped off as I already just had a rant on my diary.
Only one glass left you say? Shame I was going to ask you to share a glass. I will have to stick to waiting for the elderflower champagne I have brewing. Hope tomorrow is better for you

Lucielle and RMC, thanks for the support. Thing is don't get me wrong it isn't as if everyone is horrible, it is more that they are friendly but that is as far as it goes....I was kind of hoping for coffee invites, and more importantly invites for the kids to go play, but nope nada. I think part of it is that people wait to see if you are really staying before committing. I don't know. Generally I just plod along in my own company...

RMC good luck with planning September. You have just reminded me that I have receipts to input into my little spreadsheet, so will sign off to do this
    cheers

That is absolutely disgusting, I don't know how these companies get away with it, let alone sleep at night.

Yes, but from what I can gather this is common practice, although I only noticed this when my debt became so high ( not from being frivolous but like many people due to circumstances changing and thinking I could manage for a short time) and then I spotted it. It is the same with my MINT card (which is bigger o/s than this but much lower rates) and it really makes me angry. But anger is good it has motivated me into doing something about it. Much like you RMC, when somebody messes with me then I go all out to get the upper hand. Well, I like to think so.

Sorry for the hijack when I have only just joined your band of merry people RMC but as requested here is the elderflower champagne recipe. It is a Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall one but other recipes are available (said in the serious voice of a BBC presenter)
    ngredients
    4 litres hot water
    700g sugar
Juice and zest of four lemons
    2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
About 15 elderflower heads, in full bloom
A pinch of dried yeast (you may not need this)

    1. Put the hot water and sugar into a large container (a spotlessly clean bucket is good) and stir until the sugar dissolves, then top up with cold water so you have 6 litres of liquid in total.
    2. Add the lemon juice and zest, the vinegar and the flower heads and stir gently.
    3. Cover with clean muslin and leave to ferment in a cool, airy place for a couple of days. Take a look at the brew at this point, and if it’s not becoming a little foamy and obviously beginning to ferment, add a pinch of yeast.
    4. Leave the mixture to ferment, again covered with muslin, for a further four days. Strain the liquid through a sieve lined with muslin and decant into sterilised strong glass bottles with champagne stoppers (available from home-brewing suppliers) or Grolsch-style stoppers, or sterilized screw-top plastic bottles (a good deal of pressure can build up inside as the fermenting brew produces carbon dioxide, so strong bottles and seals are essential).
    5. Seal and leave to ferment in the bottles for at least a week before serving, chilled. The champagne should keep in the bottles for several months. Store in a cool, dry place.

Havent tasted yet so hope it is nice.

Cherisong - sounds decilous - but I don't even know what elderflowers look like (and I call myself a country girl!)

Chev - it was just the same when I moved to NYC - everyone was friendly and that was it! It took me a while to realise that they see so many people 'coming' and I suppose, as you say, they want to see if you will be 'going' before they let you in, as it were.

Pickle - I was shocked and stunned but gave him a biscuit for being such a good boy so here's hoping a bit of positve reinforcement does the trick!

MBNA - yeah I love that they only take £5 off the actual credit limit. NOT! When they hiked my rate, I took Martin's advice and called them and told them to cancel the card and thus got the old rate! I know Ricardo doesn't own my card anymore but I still hate him..............he offered me free digital tv last week - I don't think so! This is a Ricardo free house (or it will be)

Taxi - thanks for the good wishes for the weekend!
