Hi RMC
I would also like to say thanks to all the posters in diary land and in DFW. I haven't had much success making friends over here, so am glad to have someone to chat to as well, even if it isn't about debt very often.

Hope the postie brings you some big fat cheques again today.
Well done for being sensible with the £800 and looking where you need to use it to make life easier going forward, it must have been very tempting to pay it straight off the debt, but slow and steady will win the race!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

congratulations for Red's OH! I hope he got a lot of praise, and it's certainly worth a glass of champagne to celebrate with.0 -
Afternoon
Held off posting waiting for postie - no luck today but sure there is always tomorrow.
LT - yes I told him he was a great boy and he walked off grinning like a cheshire cat (bless)
Hypno - nowhere near as stressed this morning, thank you (now stressed about what Mrs R thinks we should do in 2 hours!)
Chev - its very hard moving to a new place, I remember that feeling very well! Now that your boys are super runners you may find a whole new X Country circuit of buddies!
I too am pleased that I didn't run out and pay debts..........feel a lot more in control.
The month is almost at an end so this weekend I will prepare bills for account shops and get them off in the post.....and Sept brings year end! (We are aiming for 60% on last year and so far we are looking good to achieve the same!)
Next year we will be so much better off........not in pennies but in debt freeness (if there is such a word) because we will pay up front for as much as possible, thus hopefully, allowing better cashflow management. I am sure there is an accountant out there saying the opposite but I don't want to get into same mess again.
And then of course, off to Dublin on Sunday and very excited...........don't care about my toes!LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

Hi Red,
Just quickly coming out of lurkdom to say that we use Abbey (now Santander) for business banking.
We have banked with them for 6 years. Our annual turnover is 1.2million (I would stress I do the accounts for a company, this isn't MY company!), and we have never incurred a charge for anything. It really is free business banking! That said, we don't bank cash, only cheques. But certainly worth looking into. I don't know if this account is still open for new customers since the change to Santander, and I know they are the same group now as Absurd & Ludicrous, but has to be worth looking into.
And things are definitely on the up for you now. I can tell.Debt at highest Nov '06 £17,822.98

Awh thanks dfw884 - should that not be DF884
Congratulations - didn't take you long either - well done!
If Absurd&Ludicrous offered me a free trip to the moon, I wouldn't bank with them again, cutting off my nose and all that but still wouldn't plus they have a five day clearance on cheques and the current bank only has 3 but thats really an excuse for me!
Thanks for the vote of confidence, much appreciated!LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

Yeah, that login makes me smile every time. I was a DFW for what seemed like a lifetime, now I am DF, but I still can't be parted from my pennies most of the time.
I did once see on TV (anyone watch 'Spendaholics'?) that the biggest spenders become the biggest savers. I'm afraid there's no going back...
And I do have every confidence in you, you're going great guns (though I know these setbacks can be really upsetting. But that's all they are setbacks on the road to being debtfree).Debt at highest Nov '06 £17,822.98

Where oh where are my ebayers' - one lousey bid all day - ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Spent day working out my 'what if's' for September - need more apples (as usual) and of course have to cover the bounced chq too - but I will do it some how.
Also meal planned within an inch of my life - it was easy - looked at Lidl offers and worked from there! Extravagent or what!! Also noted that Lidl is cheaper in UK than it is here. Hula Hoops in England 1.49, same in N Ireland 1.99! How fair is that? And if Lidl try to say its shipping costs, I should offer to ship for them at that profit!!!LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.
