We had a "depollution system failure" warning on our old 307cc (wonderful command of English by our French friends)...all it needed was a software drop at local Pug garage. As other have said, it can mean many things.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

I think what he meant was scrap the tape deck and replace it with an aftermarket CD head unit - then you don't need to worry about the faulty changer.....

    thats exactly what i meant.

scrap the pug system and fit an aftermarket cd player.you can ge facia adaptors on ebay for a few quid.
    ...work permit granted!
  • so your basicaly calling me a liar then. nice!

there is no antipollution light!! its a visual warning on dash display, followed by the engine management light coming on.

    This I know.

Out of all the Pug/Citroen with the anti pollution message - weve never done a crank sensor. We've always topped the elloys fluid up as its been below minimum, cleaned the DPF out and its fixed its self.

As for your cat being less than 14 months old, well which cat are you referring to?

my quote: oh and exhaust was less than 14 months old at the time, and cat was fine when checked.

the cat was fine when checked at garage when it went in for diagnostic.

catalytic converter i'm a refurring to. i bet your thinking of the furry kind if you have to ask.

as another poster said depollution fault came up on their display and needed a software upgrade are you going to say the software has sod all to do with depollution also? perhaps you may gain some knowladge now and not jump to a straight conclusion its eolys, fap or exhaust related.

You have now concluded my observations, which is why I asked about the cat, as the cat has nothing to do with the FAP. The FAP/DPF is a seperate device fitted to the exhaust. Not the normal catalytic converter. Which is why I asked what cat were you referring too...

Do you guys think the cd player stopping working could be anything to do with us fiddling about with the windscreen washer reservoir? Now I think of it it happened afterwards of us doing that... so maybe coulda knocked a wire or something for the cd player? lol

I know I am clutching at straws here but hey :P
  • CD playesr in Pugs are rubbish. Like I said before, we just replace the 5 disc in dash changers for the cubby hole.

    OK lets be clear here.

FAP/DPF applies to DIESEL engines in the pug/cit ranges.

FAP/DPF does not apply to petrol in any way shap or form.

OP if you pug is diesel take onbourd the advise. FAP/DPF if its the petrol engine its not applicable.

as op has not specified fuel type i hope this clears this up,

    i have a petrol 307 1.6 16V.

harvey! observation should be on the list of things to remember for the both of us.

were both nit picking here and it dont benfit op as this post is getting lost in translation, i dont disagree on your advice if its deisel, mine was petrol and it was the crank sensor that was at fault, if its diesel it could be DPF/FAP and the sensors related to it or maybe something outside the box. of course these DPF's need more regular maintenance than a catalytic converter and if severely blocked can damage the engine.

i should not have jumped to the defensive.
