Peugeot 307 - Anti Pollution Fault, CD Player fault & Windscreen Washer! Help please!

Options
Hiya.
I recently purchased a 52 plate peugeot 307 which has been a great runner. However as I was going to sell it (to make me debt free funily enough) a few problems have seen to have cropped up.

First of all I have suddenly had an engine light come on with a warning of antipollution fault. I have googled this and have found it is a really really common problem and usually isn't a big problem or anything - but obvioulsy tryiog to sell a car is gonna be difficult with such a light on. Some people have reported its usually just a faulty sensor... but any other help would be great.

Problem 2 is to do with my cd player. I have the blapunkt 5cd player which was brilliant. However, all of a sudden it won't work. When I press the "scr" button on the stereo to switch to playing cd's nothing happens at all. I have to hold in the number buttons to eject the cds and even diong this and putting them back in hasn't fixed it.

Third problem is to do with y windscreen washer reservoir. Basically i tried topping it up but the water cae spilling out the problem. Thought the plastic tube may have just been loose so took it out and made sure it was all connected in correctly... But the problems still happening so I think it mus thave a leak

Obviously I am trying to sell this car asap to get me debt free so don't wna throw money at it... so just lookign for any help or advice any of you could offer please:)

  • 1. what engine is in it 1.6 16v 110BHP engine? if so i had the sam prob with anti polution fault and it transpired to be a faulty crank sensor £17.50 + vat for one. i'd have a code read done at garage to make sure what is wrong with it, anti polution can mean anything and most people sware its a FAP filter probelm in wich to buy fluid to add to tank of fuel and give an give a good run but my anti pollution fault turned out to be a faulty crank sensor.

    2. the 5 disc blaupunkt cd player are prone top a number of faults, mine is totaly k'put as the timing or the 3 pole's inside the player that the lense travels up and down dislodged and twisted the metal bits inside. a new one will cost you about £380+ vat at peugeot dealer, or you can try a auto lecky and see if he can fix the problem by what you describe the lense has come out of sync on its poles and easily fixed.

    3. have you checked the wash bottle itself? to see if it leaking from the bottle pump and connected hoses or for a split in the bottle?

the bottle is on driverside under a plastic peice in engine bay if i remeber correctly to fill it but to access the bottle you need to remove the driver side wheel and mud guard insert and the bottle is inbetween bumper and engine bay.

Okay cheers for giving me some hope with the anti pollutant thing. Think the best bet for me with that and also the window wiper reservoir is just to get it into a garage and find out what its gonna cost :( spose itl be worth it if its not too much and will mean Ill maybe get an xtra few hundred! (Also yes it is a 1.6 engine)

For the cd player there is no way I am spending that on a new one. Just wondering could it be possible that its a sign I need a new battery? It is a 52 plate and hasnt had a new battery before I don't think and am just wondering if this is a sign?

    Thanks again
  • Anti Pollution is the DPF which is full and needs cleaning out. also the elloys fluid could be low. This gets injected into the fuel everytime you fuel up.

Cd player is also a common fault - we take them out and replace them with the cubby hole for about a tenner.

if it didn't start then that would be a sign your batterys gubbed. not the cd player not working.

take the cd player out,bin it and buy an aftermarket stereo with fascia adaptor to fill the gaps.
    ...work permit granted!

I see. Okay and do you know roughly how much it'll be to get this dpf cleaned out?

after market wont fit pug cd players piggy back off the main cassette deck with its own wireing harness. and the cassette deck hasnt got a cd boot changer plug in the back of them.

like i said op anti pollution fault could mean anything not just that elloy fluid is low but is one option to a fault a code read will tell you the faul and auto lecky could fix the cd player, or you could remove and replace with the cubby holder and sell the cd player if you decide to do this pm me ill be interested in buying it.
if battery was going the battery light would be on continuously when started.

I think what he meant was scrap the tape deck and replace it with an aftermarket CD head unit - then you don't need to worry about the faulty changer.....

kk kilty my bad, lol. but saying that yes do it that way but lose the radio display on the centre dash display, i hate this in a car personally and would rather the display fully functional. op may favour it, but as some cd player are around £35.00+. a cubby at scrappy for £10.00 seems to be very mse to me. as youd have to have the cd player and cubby taking away the gaps costing maybe £50.00 aftermarket wise.

You mean your engine managment light came on...?

Anti Pollution light will have sod all to do with crank sensors...

so your basicaly calling me a liar then. nice!

there is no antipollution light!! its a visual warning on dash display, followed by the engine management light coming on.

antipollution came up i tried the eolys fluid no avail, found a crack in manifold replaced manifold and lambda sensor still no fix, took fo a really long drive still it came on, give up had fault code read and it was there on the screen faulty crank sensor replaced the crank sensor FIXED, i also said it could be eoys fluid when mentioned, hence why i advised for a fault code read.
oh and exhaust was less than 14 months old at the time, and cat was fine when checked.

keep an open mind. cars can be a mine field, and if some has had an experience such as mine who are you to say its nothing to do with crank sensor! i just wish i had a code read first rather than hopeing it was something else would of been cheaper.

i had this experience so i can quote my experience wich could be use full to OP.
