Thank you for the welcome mrs-moneypenny

    I've just finished my inventory.

I found two identical films which were both expensive, that is around the £20 mark which I really wanted to own but obviously haven't watched.

Also I have two copies of two Alan Ayckbourn plays which cost a lot of money. These I got from Amazon. I have watched one of these on the TV and still have it on video but the companion film I've never seen. They were recorded in French. The one on video is subtitled in English. I bought the first DVD set hoping I could follow it but it is too complicated. I then bought another DVD set which says it has Italian and English audio. However, it only has Italian audio. Looking at the reviews I can see that someone else complained about the wrong information but I bought it a year ago and too late to send back. I really wanted to watch this - why had I not looked at it before last weekend!

Anyway - enough of the rambling.

I have separated the DVDs into watched, not watched and other - final category includes watched on cinema/TV/video/live (I have some DVDs of Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas that I saw live)

I have counted series of DVDs as one DVD, but collections I've counted as separate DVDs.

    Now to figures

Not as bad as I thought

    32 DVDs not watched

38 Other - see explanation as above

    88 Watched

I still have to decide which one I will watch first but I will post when I have watched it.

Forgot to add my Alan Bennett DVDs - they total about 14, but live on my bookcase with his books - I'm quite a fan so they are not going.

Also found some free ones from newspapers, 8 I am keeping, and 7 are going.

I listened to two music videos today while I was sorting out my inventory and have one of those is going - not sure about the other one yet.

Then I tried to watch a third but the dvd navigation was terrible. I just want to put a dvd in and watch it. Gave up and that's gone now.

I then put on a musical which was recorded at an outside venue. Very difficult to follow so gave up.

Then I watched 'The King and I'. Still fed up with navigation. First the warnings about piracy. Then I started to watch but it had no subtitles so I went back to the beginning again, had to listen to piracy warning again. Then I got subtitles but no audio. Finally I got audio and subtitles.

While watching that I sorted out my videos and filled in an inventory for them.

That gives me a total of 91 videos - pre recorded and ones I have recorded.

So - today I have found 10 dvds and 5 leave the house.

  • Watched 'when the game stands tall' over the weekend a really good motivational film about an American football team enjoyed it but will pass it on to a friend of DHs as he also likes that genre. Also watched an audience with bob monkhouse its over 20 years old but was still good, that's another that now it's been watched can be passed on.

Friday night I watched Kiss me Kate.

I've had this DVD for many years and just wanted to watch it when I could guarantee no interruptions. So I put it on really late. I didn't know it was two and a half hours long!

But it was fabulous. I knew it was one that I would keep but it has been played and will be played again.

I like to concentrate on films, rather than doing other things at the same time so I think it will take some time to get them all watched. In the daytime, I prefer CDs and talking books so I can just listen to them. But I'm going to be listening to them in turn and will be working my way down the CD stack instead of just my favourite two rows.

  • Finally got around to watching It's a wonderful life. Really enjoyed it but it didn't seem much like a Christmas film.

Think my extended challenge is going to fall short as from here on I will be probably just watching Christmas films and they are all rewatches I think

I've watched 4 episodes of 'The Likely Lads' - 4 more to go and then have a lot of episodes of 'Whatever happened to the Likely Lads'

Wanted to watch a film with my friends on Saturday but they wanted to watch the above - oh well, at least I've started my foray into that box set. I've watched some of the episodes but could not tell you which ones.
