Car hire from Faro - does this sound reasonable?

Because I prefer to deal with car hire company that actually supplies the sort of car I ordered, and don't supply an unsuitable, old, dangerous, filthy, wreck. Perhaps the fact that their agent Faro's offices are a dumped car in the car park, should have given me a clue about the quality (or lack of it) of their service.
And when I reported the problem back to www.economycarhire.com they denied that their agents supplied cars as old and decrepid as I received. When I sent them proof, they huffily agreed that they were wrong, but then told me tough luck.
And they censor their "Feedback from our customers" pages, and delete any feedback that shows them in a bad light.0 -
We are going away in May. I've done a fair bit of research and the cheaper ones (argus, carrentalabroad.com, 121carhire.com) all seem to come out roughly the same for a 5 door economy car with air con for two weeks ie £260 (this includes the cost of hiring two child seats).
The main difference seems to be that some offer third party and some offer fully comp insurance. None are without the excess though.
Have gone for farocar because the website is very clear, they include an extra driver for free, fully comp insurance (not the excess insurance but I'll get that from worldwideinsure.com probably which is £28 for two weeks) and also they seem to be in easy walking distance from departures.0 -
Thanks for all the great feedback. We considered a taxi service etc and it's about £100 return but we would prefer to have a car I think.0

Correction!! carrentalabroad.com only hires car with fully comp insurance, nil excess and free drives. I have been using them for a few years never had any problems, service is very good and the price is best you will find. Not forgetting at the airport as well.
I have just booked my 4th rental for Easter, hope the weather is good in Albufeira:beer:0 -
Been to Faro a few times over the years and used a few companies for car hire there.
From my own experience I would advise anyone to stick to the companies at the main terminal and avoid those in the middle or the car park (carpark4) as they are basically sharks who will try anything on. In particular Air Autos are well known to be dodgy, an internet search will give you plenty of examples. However, if you are a seasoned war reoprter you may be fine with the car park hirers, but if you are on holiday or dont like being cheated or stressed the avoid them.
Good Luck.
PS Another company I would avoid when booking is Enjoy Car Hire as they will send you to the Car Park 4 people above and charge you for doing so!0 -
I have used on many occasions Drive4Fun who operate out of Car Park 4 at Faro airport and would highly recommend them. Their service is very good and I've never had a car more than 6 months old.
I've also used TravelRent, Air Autos and Zit Autos out of Car Park 4 and would never use them again, they had the worst service, unroadworthy vehicles, etc.0 -
Where do Goldcar have their desk? I want to avoid them.0
