Car hire from Faro - does this sound reasonable?

10 day car hire form Faro airport returning to Faro for £250 for a Peugeot 207 station wagon on similar.

There will be 4 adults, 1 child with a car seat (5 years old) and 3 cases. Will we fit in this car do you think and does the price sound fair?

I've searched all the usual suspects using Martins article and we can get cheaper smaller cars but not sure if we would fit and if the listings on the hire sites are accurate (for eg one place reckons you can fit 9 suitcases in a KA!).

Thanks.

  • Hi, I don't think that is too bad. You might be able to get it a little cheaper with arguscarhire.com I have just been looking for car hire from Faro in August and they have come cheapest so far.

We managed to fit 3 adults & 1 6yr old & luggage into a Fiesta ok. You would be able to fit 4 & a child it might be a bit cosy though.

We have booked with holiday autos in the past but they are coming up more expensive this time. Also last year we had to wait for an hour to get a car.

    HTH.

  • Thanks cost cutter argus is who the quote is with so it seems they must be the cheapest at the moment. Interesting about a fiesta, not sure we'd get 3 cases in the boot though? A fiesta is about £60 cheaper. It such a hard call, the only times we will all be in the car is to and from the airport!
  • We managed to get 3 cases and squashed some hand luggage in for good measure. We did take the boot cover thing off and just pushed that in on top after we had got everything in.. As you say for most of the holiday you don't need all the space.

Our friends did manage to get 2 adults & 2 teenage children (their son being over 6ft) all their luggage into into a Matiz (not sure how to spell it but it's a small car!) It wasn't what they were expecting but was all they had left in the group they had booked. Was very funny to see them all squashed in there :rotfl:

Alternatively you could use a cash back site instead of some other users affiliate list!!
  • Have a look here.....
    www.economycarhire.com
    Used them for years.
  • I too would suggest www.economycarhire.com who I used last in the Algarve.
If you are only needing the car to travel to and from where you are staying have you not considered local taxi companies or whether the place where you are staying does any kind of shuttle service, as the price you quote seems quite a lot just for that journey.
    Where are you staying?
  • I would recommend carrentalabroad.com I have used them for years great prices and super service, especially with kids. They are also based in the airport.

You will be pleased, It would cheaper than a taxi..

I would suggest that you use anybody else other than them. Worst car hire company I have ever dealt with.
