Best Tasting Birthday Cake??

Hi All,
I wanted to get a birthday cake later in the week, my other half has spotted the Star Wars one in Tesco's at £8.
I just wandered if anyone else had recommendations for a good birthday cake, as some can be dry. The last two I got from M&S I was not impressed with to be honest... I can get a Costco one but we've tried this before and it's abit sweet for us - lots of sweet icing on top...
I would bake one, however my sponge cakes don't come out the best which is a shame
- there is nothing like a lovely homemade cake
Any suggestions would be great thanks..

seeing as you said m&s and costco have already been tried and youre not keen, id recommend going to your local market and if you have a stall of home made cakes like most do, ask if she will make a bigger one
) then ice it yourself, or if you know of any elderly neighbours etc who would like to do it for you?
hope this helps)

Hi there,
When my daughter was 2 we got her the In the night garden one from Tesco as we were not having a huge party so it was big enough and i thought the cake was lovely!
I presume the star wars one from Tesco will be the same tastewise.:coffee:0 -
Just had a Hannah Montanna cake last week from Asda. Was yummy x0

The tesco madeira iced one is very nice and then you can decorate it how you like. If feeling lazy just put a load of jelly tots, dolly mixtureds etc on the top. The other nice ones are the Asda and Tesco ones that you get a photo printed on.
