Small Vent, damaged car

Hi
Just wanted a small vent because I'm sooo angry!!

I nipped to Blockbuster this afternoon to return some DVD's, I pulled into an end space with nobody parked next to it, (I always choose end spaces if available) Just as I'm getting out of my car a lady in a Polo pulls next to me, no problems with that. I don't go into the shop, I post my DVD's into the letterbox and head back to my car. I watch this women open her door fully with quite alot of force into my passenger door!! I couldn't believe what I saw, she knew it was my car as she had seen me get out and walk across the car park. I'm not a very confident person, but this angered me so much I had to say something.

She was a rather large lady and told me she had to open he door all the way to fit out, in her defence though, she said she opened her door gently (she didn't, judging my the noise her car made when it hit mine!) I'm 9 months pregnant now and i'm on the large size (hence why I choose an end space) but I would never treat somebody else's property in this way and have never opened my car door with complete disregard to the car next to me.

I wouldn't mind but the car park wasn't even that full, there were plently of spaces she could have parked so as to not hit another vehicle.

She has put a slight dent in the passenger door and I'm dreading my OH seeing it, as its his car.

Sorry for the long rant, but I'm so cross!! Why are some people so bloody stupid and inconsiderate!

why did you not get her details so she can pay for the repairs??

If I was your OH I would be more annoyed about that than the dent

Have you made arrangements for her to pay for repairs to your car or taken her insurance details so you can make a claim?

Sorry I should have put that I did get her details, she wasn't happy about giving them, she thought it was only minor damage and not worth worrying about.

We will pursue it as its a new car, I wouldn't mind so much if it was an old banger. Her attitude wasn't particularly bad, she just couldn't see the problem opening her door into my new, much loved car. I don't think it will stop her from doing again and the chances are nobody will see her doing it so she will get away with it.

It's probably a fat person attitude, blames the whole world for her waist line, but won't take responsibility for it herself. A lack of self respect for her own body, so no doubt a lack of respect for other people's property.

You're quite entitled to pursue her for the whole cost. Perhaps it might make her stop and think next time.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It annoys me too, why are people so blase about damaging other people's property?!! I go out of my way to not touch people's cars with my door, which is sometimes difficult getting out of a low car, in a tiny space, when you look like you have a space hopper down your jumper!!! :rotfl:

Get a claim into her insurance. Even if she fights it, it stays will her until it is resolved, or you let her remove it, so her next renewal she will need to declare it, and will lose her her no claims.
I hate peolpe that do this as well.

Claim off her. Stupid woman shouldn't have parked next to another car if she needed that much space to get her fat !!!! out. I'm not exactly slender, but I can fit in a smaller gap if needs be (but just to add I'm a little on the fat side, not fat enough as to warrant two seats)

I do it all because I'm scared.
