  • Munchki, I wish I could wave a magic wand.

I know I'm a newcomer to the thread, but from the first posts of yours I read, I thought "that's someone to be inspired by".

I still think that. Don't give up. I've been told I'm good at thinking around corners, so if you want to bounce ideas, then do. There's a lot of seriously brilliant people in this thread, and you're one of them.
    Stage one - declutter
Stage two - sell the clutter
Stage three - turn the money into more money
Stage four - pat self on back

Munchki, reading what Nixi says about you not being a 'yes' person makes me think that maybe you would do really well in a small business where you could really exercise your energies. Larger companies are more likely to want someone to fit a defined role and image, whereas a small company may be more flexible and allow you scope to do more.

I cant say that I am not a yes person and at the same time cant say that I am! I do know what you mean tho. To be honest I have been applying to both large and small companies, the one today was literally 3 people! I know that working for myself is the best option, but at the moment that does not seem to be working and probably for a couple of reasons, one probably being i just have not got me out there enough yet and two probably because I feel like I have been completely defeated.

I do possibly have two more interviews next week...one is a perm role and the other is a temp role for 6-9 months which I would be over the moon with! The temp one is at Rolls Royce and the other, well cant remember as I think my brain is complete mush.

You were right Amber when you said earlier that I am in a precarious place, I am and the bottom is about to fall out. I desperately need to come up with nearly 400 in two weeks and I obviously know that is not going to happen lol.

Anyone need an admin, come sales, come marketing come wearer of many hats???

I have not had a break of any sort for what seems like an eternity. I am supposed to be going up north this weekend to see friends and to try and recharge my batteries. Part of me says, dont be daft cant afford it. The other part of me says, for the sake of what is left of your mental health you cant afford not to!! Supposed to be a hot tub and copious amounts of red wine on saturday night, lots of hugs and chatting the rest of the time.

oh god I really am dribbling now.....so so sorry

oh yes, forgot to mention this guy I saw today already had an image in his mind of the typical american and there would have been nothing I could have done to change that opinion. He actually told the agency that he figures most americans are arragant and self centred but he would be willing to meet with me to just see......... really really despise people who group everyone together!!! **rant over**

Right my turn! If I could get hold of a bundle of clothes for silly cheap, including these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citrus-Chiffon-Sequin-Cocktail-Prom-Dress-Size-10_W0QQitemZ380169216471QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWomen_s_Clothing?hash=item5883d9e1d7

for £3.20 each, should I go for it, can't do it til next week and I get some money together, but min order is £800. OH is due a £1000 payout from the windfarm to buy his rights to fish where they are putting it. Am going to butter him up to loan me the money, but am in real need of an objective opinion. Am I going to be doing right by getting the lot? I think so, but they say that judgement is always clouded when it come to yourself.

It is a mixed lot of 314 pcs btw, only 12 of these dresses, but other items are similarly resaleable though.

Mambury, where did you get your mannequin from, think I may need to invest in one, hope I am not treading on your toes btw!

Also, decided the toyshop may be a good idea, but to be safe, I would need about £40k start up capital, so that is well and truly on the back burner, but jsut say that I were to open up a shop or market stall, could I do that on ex chain store stock, as long as I didn't say where it came from?

    Cheers

Likey, likey dressy!!! Go for it.... I might buy one.... if I ever get a social life! LOL! I ordered the mannequin from ebay...... this seller.

Mabel - offer them a refund if they send it back.... they will either stop bugging you or they will send it back, and stop bugging you!!

Munchki - we are here to help... and as Amber says stop apologising.. the idea of this thread is to make £10k by the end of the year by whatever means..... lets have a brainstorm for you..... PLease let us help, you have been a great help to many others (inc me!!) so now its your turn!
I don't know what to suggest about the recent interviews but have you tried local supermarkets.... and play dumb when you apply/interview! It works.... they want people who will work odd hours, get their head down and do as they are told (I know, I worked in ASDA for six months), also don't forget summer temp jobs in the travel/leisure industry.... There will be loads of places starting to advertise soon looking for temp summer staff, that might be a way of getting you to scotland??! That way you can concentrate on your business (or a new on if you fancy!!) and have some money coming in too...... I know you have tried lots and lots of different avenues but I am sure there are some that you haven;t even seen yet, let alone tried..... Are there any careers advisors local to you that can help? Hassle the job centre lots until they get so fed up with you that they will do anything to get you a job!!
If I think of anymore then I shall let you know.... if you need to talke you have my FB/email/MSN......

Go away for the weekend.... it will be money well spent... you need a break and friends might just help you come up with the answer.... even if they don't then you'll enjoy yourself!!!

Well, I have done nothing money making today, just sat and chatted to some girlie friends for a few hours and it was lovely!!

Jo - the smilies are fantastic.... how old is DS?? Future programmer??!!

I shall have to pull my finger out tomorrow....

Munchki - I think you need to go and see your friends and you never know what opportunities may be waiting you when you get there!!! xxx

Oh and when I said you aren't a yes person - I meant you are like me you question everything and look for a better way of doing it, and great if you can but sometimes that effort and thought isn't appreciated!

Ok munchki quick tutorial . improvised smilie making.
If you have photoshop. open. choose new file. make your image 40 x40 pixels and rgb
zoom in so you can work on it. I did mine all in one layer.
Then go to file. save for web. choose optimised tab and save as gif. i saved it to my desktop.
then need somewhere to host it.
I made a private album on my facebook and uploaded it there. then right clicked the image on there and chose copy image location. then on MSE chose insert picture and pasted the link into the box. .
bit makeshift but it got us there quite quickly and that was important with DS.
    most smilies i think are 20 x 20 or 30 x 30 but i didn't have the patience as too fiddly.
