  • OK, so I got the keys to my flat-house today :) It's an absolute crap heap :(

The guy had to go through 3 sets of keys because none of them were right AND nicked off with the key to my balcony (sounds nice but isn't)

My little boys all excited that we have trains in our 'back garden'... I, am not :o

I was hoping to splash a bit of paint around, have a little shopping spree and be none with it but looks more like i'll have to gut the place a bit more first! The wallpapers already half way off in most rooms so tomorrow is going to be spent stripping and I may have to beg my friend to plaster for me if it's really bad. Everything is wonky and theres a big scary electrical cable coming out of the ceiling amongst other problems. It's far from liveable in and the council have actually passed this place as suitable for a 3 year old :o

Trying to focus on how pleased i'm going to be when it's beautiful but I honest don't know how it's going to get there. Don't get me wrong, I know council places aren't nice but I wouldn't even want to squat there how it is now. Therefore, no money making for me today ;)
Dont lose heart once youve slapped some paint about and got carpets in it will look better
When I got my house there was headbutt or fist holes in every door,a window was broken upstairs, the tiles in the kitchen were so covered with grease I thought they were brown, they were green, and there was 4 bin bags full of empty bottles and cans in the utility room,my girls always remember that ,now when people come in they comment on how nice it is
Councils are notorious for this they shouldnt get away with it but unless you keep on to them they will try to do as little as possible,Ask if you can have some free rent weeks to fix things up,mine gave me 1 free week when I complained

Having treat of take away pizza tonight, and settling in to watch my online watercolour class. So will pop in and out, but may not be chatting much as I'll be absorbing all I need to become a really good painter (hah!).
  • Just spoke to OH...he is lovely, bless him. The third time he's phoned and he only left at half 5. I've got so much stuff out all over the bed that I can't remember what I'm actually using, but it's keeping me busy!

I'm having a go at creating a wedding notebook. It's going okay...I'm not sure what to put on the front, I made the word Hope in white glitter but I'm not sure if thats appropriate, so it's back to the drawing board.

Feel a bit guilty moaning about this while a lot of others are having such bad times..but.. I'm really not sure about this jewellery business,it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere and I'm spending so much money on the website etc. wish I did have Ambers psychic abilities so I'd know if I was wasting my time/money!
I know It's only been 2 years (a year with the website up and running) and these things take time-perhaps I'm just expecting too much :-(

Yummymummy, as an Ex Housing Officer (don't know if I should have admitted that, don't linch me!!!) that flat has to meet up to certain "lettable standards", some are deamed by law and others by the individual landlord. I would suggest you: 1. Take photos of it now before you do anything just in case you need them if you take any action in the future etc and write a list as well. 2. Ask them for a copy of their lettable standards 3. They should have had an electrical safety test carried out (and gas if you have it) and should have a copy of the certificate issued by the engineer on file. I would politely go in and ask to see that as well and maybe a copy of the complaints procedure. If they know you know your rights they won't fob you off. Good luck :)

Saucy - you saying wedding notebook, something I was always being asked for but coudn't do were Guest Books for Weddings ...you know where the guests write a note and comment on a page for the Bride and Groom to keep. I had more enquiries for those than I did for stationery ...... could be worth a go!
Life is a work in progress

  • Having a takeaway as I can't even open a tin...(stupid STUPID hand), and have just had to drop out of some work later in the year as my gut instinct tells me that one of the other people involved is not to be trusted...now REALLY upset (you can tell that by random words of shoutiness :( )

On the upside, two of my things on eBay have bids. And I've started using a dormant account just for the money from this. :)
    Stage one - declutter
Stage two - sell the clutter
Stage three - turn the money into more money
Stage four - pat self on back

I think it will be slow and won't make you a fortune, but will build up and you'll do well enough. Remember that this is a popular market, and you've got to get your name known, but women will always get married (optimists ...) and they'll tell their friends where they got their jewellry from. Since you're doing wedding designs I think that you need to add fancier (and more expensive) tiaras.

Apparently foster kitty is also called Tatiana - more suitable than her previous name! Poor little mite has spent most of today hiding under the bed (better than behind the bog I guess) but just ventured out to have a sniff around. I still can't get near her though.
