hmmm one can only hope. sat here all comfy and chilled but on the verge of tears.......think the stress is really taken its toll and more too come.....I refuse however to cry, for now anyway!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
OK, so I got the keys to my flat-house today
It's an absolute crap heap
The guy had to go through 3 sets of keys because none of them were right AND nicked off with the key to my balcony (sounds nice but isn't)
My little boys all excited that we have trains in our 'back garden'... I, am not
I was hoping to splash a bit of paint around, have a little shopping spree and be none with it but looks more like i'll have to gut the place a bit more first! The wallpapers already half way off in most rooms so tomorrow is going to be spent stripping and I may have to beg my friend to plaster for me if it's really bad. Everything is wonky and theres a big scary electrical cable coming out of the ceiling amongst other problems. It's far from liveable in and the council have actually passed this place as suitable for a 3 year old
Trying to focus on how pleased i'm going to be when it's beautiful but I honest don't know how it's going to get there. Don't get me wrong, I know council places aren't nice but I wouldn't even want to squat there how it is now. Therefore, no money making for me today0 -
Council places can be nice, but they certainly should be habitable ... do you have to accept this one? Are there any alternatives? Shouldn´t they make it ready for you to move in before you do so?0

That IS there version of 'ready'! I was provisionally offered this place at the start of Dec, I thought it taking so long was because they were making it nice. I've been on the council list for 3 years and tried every single other scheme they do to try and get us somewhere, if i didn't take this one we could be waiting indefinately and I just can't do that. I'm asking for a new front door because it's mostly glass and I don't feel remotely safe there, the downstairs neighbours look scary and one has bars on they're door and another has a CCTV camera  in a block of flats *confused*
The woman who used to deal with my application said there's no way the council would put me somewhere that wouldn't be safe but I have a feeling they've screwed me over a bit here.0 -
That doesn't sound good...if there's anything I can do to help, let me know
I'm okay, so far. I'm trying to work out whether tall notebooks, slightly thinner then their height are better then square, which is what I'm doing at the moment...
I've got such a list of ideas! I really hope I can make this a success.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Is there anyway on ebay to check if messages have been read? Or if the user they were sent to has been online?Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

Can you take it temporarily and then put in for a transfer? (sorry, no idea how these things work). No way should they be putting you in unsafe housing - that exposed wire sounds bad. I'm mad on your behalf (I'm sure you already are), as I know how much you were looking forward to getting your own place, can you complain to anyone about this? Putting a woman on her own with a small child in an unsafe environment and area just isn't right.0

It's not even necessarily a bad area, my grandma lives in the flats opposite and that's ok, seems they've just put us in the scummy bit  I've already complained twice today about the keys c*ck ups, I have to go down the council on Monday to tell them my 3 paint colours which i get free and complain about more keys already so i'm preparing a list of things to complain about; the front door being my biggest issue tbh.
I have to stay there for a year to become a 'secure tenant' and be eligable to put in for a transfer which could then take however long to go through.
If it wasn't for the fact I've already worked on my babysitting rota (because i work 4 nights a week, soon to be three and then hopefully 2 for the same money/hours) i'd be really worried about being there just me and DS.
I think my plan for the week should be 'attempt to make friends with the neighbours' I might feel better about things then.
DS thinks it's great though & I love his positivity. If it wasn't for him earlier I probably would have been in tearsThere's painted handprints all over the walls in his room, he thinks he's keeping them & the writing on the rest of the walls, he's so not!
It's a good job I have some amazing friends, there's no way I'd get this sorted without them :A0 -
