When I was made redundant a few years ago, my company paid for an outplacement service. Part of the service included access to their database of companies. It's a long shot, but if you know anyone using an outplacement service, then perhaps they could get a list of companies for you.

That is a brilliant idea and thank you, but can honestly say I dont know anyone using the outplacement service.

Woohoo Yummy Mummy!!! Congratulations!

Cagne - I use Callys spreadsheet and doublecheck on the postage cost finder on the ebay listing form, just weigh your items and add a bit extra for packaging, cost it and then I add about 50p for packaging costs but rounding up to nearest £/50...eg if cost is £2.29 I'd say it was £3.00 postage. So far, only sold 9 items inlcuding childrens clothes, I haven't lost out on one I made an extra £1 and other was only 10p up, but not lost which is the main thing!

Shell - Aww hun, def think a phone call is needed and hope it can all be sorted quickly xxx grrr, why are tjhings never simple!!? Personally I would still go ahead with plans for the birthday.....or maybe slightly altered but you need something good too!

Munchki - I think it could be worth redoing you gumtree adverts!! Saw a job advert in our local paper today and thought of you.....it was for telemarketing for a car dealership contacting existing customers to arrange servcing, 20hours a week....and thought how you contacted a company and offered to do it for them self employed rather than inhouse.....can find details if you want to try it again!

Amber - well done on the website!! Did you take your own pic?? :T

Yes yes yes!!! please lol. that would be perfect,

yes, trying to have a think about the wording for gumtree ads, so much easier to write for someone else than it is yourself lol

I'll wait for Cally's spreadsheet then and take it from there.
Also, I see that a lot of people have set up as a shop on ebay rather than just listing items. What's the benefits of doing this?

Shell - I know you can do it yourself but local papers don't charge much per leaflet delievered so might be worth enquiring ....would cover more ground, but also would go through your leaflets quicker!!

Also can you OH maybe do a couple of freebies/loss leaders.....particalualry anyone who has nice front gardens...so he is seen at work.

You could say something like - 'Hi I am a gardener and am looking for work in your area as a special offer and for today/tomorow only I will cut your grass/tidy up your garden and start to get you ready for spring for just £10.00' with a note saying a max of 2 hours work per offer! Then when customer is happy with work, offer them a set price of £15 per fortnight to come and do the same thing if they sign a 12 week contract?

Ok - I have no idea of how much gardeners do charge, or how long things take but hopefully you get the idea!! Also, lots of people are wanting homeghrown food etc, is there a a market in offering 'have your own home grown food in your own garden but don't have all the hassle we will care and tender for you' - again not wordered well but hopefully there might be an idea in there somewhere!!! Also hope he is starting to grow lots of things which you could sell at local car boots etc!!!!

Sorry if not what you were looking for - I went off on a tangent!! :)

The process starts again I think Munchki and I don't think we will get anything as his contribution based has run out now and I earn all be it not a great deal but I do, plus I am also registered as having a business and all that jazz.

I know things will be fine, I do, I'm just all over the place with regards to debt etc, my main fear is losing the house. Having lived in such financial uncertainty as a child I just don't wanna put my kids through that if I can help it. I am gonna use the challenge money, I have just ordered 6000 leaflets for OH gardening and just signed him up to myhammer to, a bit expensive but if you don't try you don't get, right. Now just need to wait for the printers to get back in touch and start delivering. If anyone has any others ideas of how I can get him 'Out there' so to speak I would be very grateful. x

I am in the same boat hon so do understand, and can very much relate to what you remember as a child, been there done that. The only thing I have left literally is my car and unless I get a miracle in the next couple weeks that will be gone as well and so will a lot of the job hunting. I find it frustrating, very much so as so much is out of your hands. I have always worked hard and this is killing me inside, ever so slowly.

As for getting OH out there, try ads on gumtree, they are nationwide, free in most cases and as long as you redo them every 3-5 days they can be quite effective!

right - the job is advertised in the Redditch Advertiser...so you can google if you wish to see the full advert!!

it says: PT/Telesales/Marketing Person Based within Dealership (hopefully negotiatiable!!!) the job will invovle calling our existing and apsed customers to obtain service related bookings. Previousl experience of Telesales would be beneficial. Competent IT skills and a good telephone manner are essential. 20 hours per week by agreement. a basic hourly rate of pay plus bonus onbookings obtained will be paid. In first instance send a cv to colin.barrett@startingroup.co.uk

Sorry should probably have done this as pm..... can I say I have no link with this incase anyone thinks I have, it is just an advert I have seem!

The dealership is Startins, I assume in Redditch as there is one in Redditch and it is in the Redditch paper......but it doesn't actually specify that!!!

Good luck - worth a call! And maybe even worth a call round other local dealerships to offer the same service!!!!?
