I had the manager from the store round last night to look at the peeling! He offered me 400.00 of new sofas, I said I needed to think about it but not happy with the offer. Not sure how to go about the next step as I want a full refund. Can any one advise?
keep fighting I got the same, tell him that the price of the sofas they sell have increased by such an amount that an equivalent to what you have would result in you spending the same again that you did orginally.
You just have to keep batting back the offers... I got a £400 CASH refund and got to keep my sofas (which im sitting on as I type this)

Hi there I having peeling bi-cast leather sofas and I am getting nowhere is there anybody out there who can tell me what store they got a sraight swap for the Dante and no money shanging hands. As the area manager for the North West says he is unaware of anybody getting a straight swap.0

mine was November 2007 - £799 paid, £400 refunded.0

make sure you check if they have anything you like and remember the markup - FV will be making at least 100% profit on each unit, so say they give you £400 and the new suite is £1200 (try and find a two piece for less than a grand!) - they will be giving you back £400, making £600 AND worth noting they will send your sofa back to the manufacturer - this is what the manager said to me, the manufacturer had taken responsilbitiy for this mis claim it was real leather and if they got the sofa back then FV would get all their money back.
Make sure its not costing you anything - they are quite convincing they are doing you a favour when you negotiate...even though they ain't.0 -
I'm moving and I was thinking of disposing of my Scala sofa, but after a search I saw the raft of complaints about this furniture. My two seater sofa has peeled very badly over the last 5 or 6 months, one of the armchairs is okay, and the other has a small amount of peeling.
Some very helpful posts on here, especially from visidigi. I have been in Furniture Village today and they tried to knock me back at first, but I was insistent I felt it was mis-sold. Expecting a call from them within a few days now, they said they can't just handout moneyback and it has to go through a procedure first. I'll keep persevering for the right solution0 -
As the cushions are sewn to the base check between them, this is the most common place where ours are peeling.
Dont say one is and one isn't, just say they are - like I've said before, the guy I dealt with didn't even come and see me, was all done over the phone...0 -
Struggling to get anywhere, the guy I have to deal with seems to make out I'm a beggar for asking for compensation with this mis-sale. He keeps getting irate even though I am very calm and just stating the facts. Still trying though, just seems it could be easier if I was dealing with a different store.0

call consumer direct and provide them with the details - the day I did my deal my local trading standards office contacted me - they basically pass all cases to the TS at the head office location - if the store isn't doing what you want/need then go to head office over it (or ask the store manager to escalate)
He can say what he likes to you, get as irate as he likes, at the end of the day its a widely known issue at FV and they will basically keep trying to get away with the very least they can - you're not a beggar, and you're not a fool, so you shouldn't have to pay all the money you did for such a shoddy product, no matter 'what they think'0
