Am trying to get HFC bank (credit co.) to refund as mis-sold. My receipt says hide but HFC (now part of HSBC) have asked me for the advert as evidence it was sold as leather - otherwise its my word against Furniture Village's. I said they make a big point of saying we only sell leather not plastic. We bought in 2007. First they said no compensation but would pick up sofa, then £175 (we've extended the guarantee from 5 to 10 years) and pick up sofa (why do they want the sofas?).

    Dear MoanerLisa,

You are an inspiration to us all - am currently trying to claim under misrepresentation for my Scala suite and suffering from lack of advert (all I have is receipt saying hide - but that should be proof enough - bank asking for more). Any help you can give? HFC bank are arguing with Furniture Village and I need ammo!

    Dear Jaspig,

Please could you send me any files you are able to as I am in dispute with Furniture Village about Scala suite purchased 2007. They mis-sold as leather. My receipt says 'hide' but HFC asking for more evidence (HFC were the bank FV used for payments every month).

    Dear Terri D,

This thread is very old and most of those you are saying hello to have been once or twice and some not for many years.

Why don't you start a new thread, outline your issue and perhaps people that actually post here this year will see it and reply.

Am trying to find an original advert from 2007 when we purchased Scala Scam leather suite. HFC Bank asking for proof they said it was leather (receipt says 'hide' and isn't that proof enough?). As we bought on credit bank getting involved. Mis-selling should be grounds for prosecution. Any help you can give would be highly appreciated. Have tried to download documents from dropbox but didn't work and the links others posted may have been removed. Desperate (spent thousands with FV and feel cheated). Thanks for posting your advice.

Don't be sorry, it's just your posts will be lost in a sea of nothingness.

At the top left of the forum you should see the option to create a 'New Thread'. If you scroll up on here, it's in the same place as Post Reply.

Click the 'breadcrumb trail' at the top which is this bit: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Consumer Rights

Click on New Thread from there and outline your issue, as clear as you can including when you purchased, how you paid etc.
  • Bought the Eleanor which cost over £2500 in total. After just 2 years the foam filling has completely softened and gives no support. The back rests lost their shape some time ago (although they didn't start off with a great shape when they were delivered!). We bought the care package which apparently did not cover any of the replacements for these even though we were told these cushions will last upwards of 10 years. My wife is pregnant so we couldn't keep the softened cushions and had to pay more money elsewhere to get new foam in the seats and new fibre in the back rests. We were told that the backrest fibre inserts were way too small for the cover which is why the back rests lost so much shape (and didn't have much to start with) and the foam seats were not fully foam i.e. it was a shallow layer of foam either side of the seat cushion with a lot of cotton fibre filling in between. The foam actually maintained its shape but the cotton fibre softened and could no longer support the foam layer - hence there was no support in the cushion after just 2 years. We had to pay to get the RIGHT size fibre insert into the back rest as well as buying a FULLY foam insert into the seat. This sofa was not worth the £2500 from Furniture Village and I will assume that most of their products will have the same (lack of) care into the finishing. Poor customer service and poor product that ended up costing us even more money. Most sofas should not last just 2 years - very disappointing and will not be using this store again.
  • In Feb 2018, we ordered a 2 and 3 seater sofa [ Revive ] from FV. After waiting for 14 weeks our sofa arrived, however 5 weeks later we noticed that one side on both sofas was sinking
and the sofas were creaking and squeaking when sat on!!
An inspection was arranged within 48 hours [ I suspect this was a normal procedure to satisfy customers]. Of course nothing was found at fault and we received the latter report after 5 days!! Since May 2018, we have complained to FV several times, without any response, even though I wrote to the Chief Executive Officer at the Head Office by recorded delivery!!

Can anyone tell me how I can get a full refund or replacement please? A full refund would be preferable. I have written to the Post Office Credit card Bank of Ireland [ as I paid the balance by their credit card]. The post office has asked me for an experts opinion on headed paper. How do I go about this and who can I contact please? Any recommendations? To recap, the sofas are only 4.5 months old and are supposed to be guaranteed for at least 5 YEARS!

Thank you for your time and attention to my query.

    Noa Louis. 25.08.2018. :(
