Faulty sofa from furniture village.

Two months could be argued as enough time to accept the furniture though you could go down the route of rejecting the furniture.
Otherwise it falls within the 6 months of purchase remit in which the retailer has to prove it's not a manufacturing fault if they can't they have to refund, repair or replace the furniture but it's their right to choose which.0 -
I purchased scala furniture in July 2007 and another lot in February 2008 and again in March 2008, I am a landlord and because the furniture looked so good in the properties and seamed to be durable that's why I purchased more. I was told repeatedly that it was 100% leather and reasoned that it should last 10 years +. I have the paperwork that came when furniture was delivered and paperwork from the finance companies but nothing that sates leather.
Any advice, guidance and documents that would help me make a claim would be much appreciated. Its over 6 years so have I and hope of making a successful claim.0 -
Wow! I need to re read all this. I have been trying to find a new sofa to replace the ones I bought 10 years ago (Jan06!) I was struggling because they were such a great deal; real leather, a 3 & 2 sofa for only £999. Although I had problems with them, the leather peeled, one of the sofas was replaced within 3 years of purchase, the other re-covered around 4 years from purchase, and now the one that was replaced has suddenly started peeling again I'm desperate for a new one. But looking up bicast and all the other types of leather, trying to decide, I stumble upon this thread (which incidentally I commented on, way back in 2010!) and discover that the scala sofas purchased are NOT 100% leather?!??? I feel absolutely betrayed & disgusted!!!! So, when I purchased the real leather sofas they were a lot of money, even though I recall they were significantly discounted (maybe even 50% according to the ads at the time) but they were going to last me 10-15 years, maybe more. now I need to replace, that kind of money is only going to get me bonded leather or bicast if I get a really good deal, but if the real leather ones were wrecked in 5 years, is it even worth buying the 'not real' leather ones.. And now I discover I was totally scammed!!! Paying real leather prices in good faith, having to try really hard to get issues resolved, and still, despite Furniture Village (Reading) having had these opportunities let me know of their 'error' and recall the items, they just didn't. and being made to think I was making such a fuss when I complained, and how grateful I had been that they had eventually decided to help me out of the goodness of their hearts. Pfft. So. Can I take them to court still for misselling??? Im not sure if I have the original documentation any more...0

Dear Jaspig
I read this thread with horror bit somewhat relief that I've not been the only one who has fallen into this trap. I too bought 2 scala sofas in Oct 2008 which over the past 18mths have pretty much turned to dust. I wonder therefore if you would so kind as to share your documentation so I can seek a similar claim from FV.
Best regards,
Adam.0 -

Long shot I know.
Is anyone able to assist?
Have only just stumbled on this thread and appreciate its been running for some time now but any help would be appreciated.0 -
Dear All,
Apologies in advance for members that left multiple PMs in my mailbox - it was not monitored for over 2yrs! I will explain below why.....
I went to small claims court and the judge threw out my case without me even presenting my case to him. Sole reason - past the 5yr claim limit on SOGA. To say I was shocked was an understatement! He would also not allow me to appeal the decision which I found a little perverse...that he agreed misrepresentation had been apparent.
I still have the material somewhere and will look at new ways of proceeding with this under different legislation.
Good luck to all those considering legal action - those that have succeeded should be an inspiration.
I know FV monitor this thread - so expect another court date!

HI there members of MSE
Having read through these threads I see that I am NOT alone here. My "Scala" so called leather sofa form Furniture Village is now starting to peel off and REALLY not happy about this. As I bought this sofa back in 2009 and out of the warranty period is there anybody here that has fought FV about your sofa you had bought? You help would be greatly appreciated.
I will appreciate it very much if you could advise in any way or any documentation to help fight Furniture Village and get our money back. As this should not be tolerated.
Many Thanks for your help again.

Hi,
I have the same problem with Alexis sofa bought in 2009. Obviously, they said they cannot do anything. If anyone has any suggestion what legal action would be best I would be grateful. Also if anyone has and could forward to me an original advert for Alexis that would be very much appreciated. Thanks.0 -

I am still here and quite happy to still provide a link to download the files from. I am a Furniture Village hater and will never stop attacking them in any legal way I can. So as previously please PM me and I will reply with a link.
Good luck.0
