    damn, oh well guess i will have to sell bt to him then. pity i know he wanted to try and move away from bt.
    so anyone have a idea / link to the best plan bt do for an aging first time silver surfer?

    No, we said BT Wholesale, not BT Broadband. Any ISP can offer you a service on this exchange, but it will not be an LLU service. Be only offer LLU, so nothing available from them.
    As already mentioned, I suggest you look at Plusnet Value-they also offer a call and line rental package.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    hmm plusnet one looks pretty good and if ive added it up right works out cheaper for him as well.
    anyone have any experience of these 2?
    i guess im a little spoilt as ive had "free" internet through orange for years

    Plusnet Value is fine. Wireless router is free, but they do charge £6.99 delivery. 10GB cap. Tech support is OK.
    Make sure you sign up via Quidco, currently about £28 cashback.
