People can say what they like, but they are not living with it day in day out. The life of a parent of a child with additional needs can be bloody miserable. If they can get an extra few quid a week to help make their life a bit more bearable then good luck to them.

What kind of things are bought to make their miserable lives (your words) a little bit more bearable?

Have you read the rest of the post Spamfree? It's about money to give the parent some respite, money to provide activities to contain over-activity, money to help replace damaged items. Obviously you don't have a child with special needs or you are a saint.

I think perhaps a thought should be given to the kids who don't get DLA whose parents can't afford horse riding lessons, or scouts, or trampoline classes, or trips to Florida before they start moaning about people asking a question.

Scouts is a low cost activity, usually about £2-£3 a week. It is low cost because of the volunteers who give up their time for the kids to benefit. It is affordable for most families, and isn't in the same league as horse riding or trips to Florida.
