are you serious? not that much surely?? really?

that could explaing the sudden surge of diagnosis in the last 15 years or so then?
I'm shocked, almost to the point of being speechless

Carers is deducted off income related benefits so is more often than not an underlying entitlement. Not everyone claims the list that has been posted, so it is very misleading. The poster herself who is being derogatory of such parents, claims a huge amount per week in sickness benefits along with her husband. Personally I fail to see how she can imply that others are creaming the state when it is obvious just who is. Sickening.

We get contributions based benefits only alongside our DLA and own our own home outright so no housing benefit or council tax benefit for us, you claim much more than us as you get you rent paid, your council tax paid, income based benefits, carers premium and every freeby going so you are getting much, much more than we are but dont let the truth stop your ignorance.

People like you make me laugh, you think everyone is like you as you know no diffrent.

  • I know exactly what it's like, as many of your sons behaviours are the same as my daughter who is on the autistic spectrum,. Even at 14, it can be like going shopping with a toddler!

They're not much better at 21!!!!

I had to walk away from mine last Christmas, she was about to ram the trolley into a group of people who were blocking the aisles whilst talking. I was three aisles away and heard the dulcel tones of....'Can you not go somewhere else to talk, some of us are trying to shop'....

To most people it would sound like she's a rude brat. (She's anything but). Those who know her know she just doesn't understand society.

I hear you. My oldest has Asperger's (makes him very sharped tongued towards others) and he is 24 and his behaviour can be as infuriating as a badly behaved five year old. My daughter has bi polar but is managing it through therapy.

When they both clash it's a real hell house as they both have meltdowns and we just find it extremely difficult as they last a good while, sometimes all day.

None of them claim DLA though, my son is working full time and my daughter is studying at college, soon to be University as she has just been accepted.

I guess we could have claimed and if I had, and they had been awarded when younger under our parental care, I would, without a doubt have paid for respite and counselling/cognitive therapy.

hi everyone i found out on friday that my 5yr old daughter has ADHD at the moment i feel lost as they said its more common in boys then girls i dont have a clue what help i can get can anyone help thanks x

Hi, I had my 7yr old daughters results through yesterday, She was diagnosed with ADHD. They told me the exact same that its hard to diagnose it in girls as they tend to mature a lot quicker than boys. I have had some leaflets off cahms (Who are amazing) and they are full of information on the condition and books they advise you to look into. The leaflets gave advise on medication, routines, tips and hint in school and also at home. I would be more than happy to share them with you. Its took several year for her to be diagnosed but i feel as thou a weights been lifted off my shoulders now. As I can state its ADHD shes got and get her all the help she needs. I also applied for the forms for DLA as I was told she entitled to it, The money will be spent on her needs eg after school clubs, trampoline classes, games, things she enjoys. I hope this help a little please feel free to get in touch.
I wish you and your daughter all the best. :A

Forms are a nightmare indeed. Best to get some help- CAB or autistic charity. In fact, for a first claim I wouldn't even try to do it myself.
Expect a knockback and appeal. Expect it to take longer than anticipated.

You are not alone in going through these challenges. I have a bowel problem and get asked how often I sh** myself, so be prepared for the questions getting personal, and offending.

The process is one by which dignity can be stripped. Your son is lucky to have you to fight his corner for him.

    Good luck. x

  • My son age 11 was diagnosed as ADHD last summer, so febuary this year I applied for dla but was refused it even on appeal as he knows road safety to get about on his own and can look after himself but they don't take in the fact that he is a lot of work argues back like he is a teenager that he can wind his little brother up ( little brother being tested for autism) that it can totally distrupt household. Bedtime is a nightmare as boys share a room and I've had to split them up at night with one sleeping on the couch. My daughter who is 13 also has ADHD so with the three of then fighting for my attention it cant be a lot too handle (I get low rate mobility for her ) i can face a tribunal it would be too stressful. Is there a time I can reapply like from scratch xoxo
