Quick chutney questions

Hi Radiohelen,
Have made various chutneys a few times now and all have turned out perfectly well in steralised jars in the cupboard (just make sure the don't have metal lids or the vinegar will react ans rust!).0 -
I would have thought the vinegar would preserve it all naturally so i would go with jars
Ive merged this with our chutney quick qs thread

I do it while it's still hot. I love hearing the lids pop as they seal which wouldn't happen if the chutney was cold. I'll add this to your earlier chutney thread or the main Quick chutney questions thread later.

I just went to start my first-ever batch of tomato chutney (mostly red, about a quarter green), and realised that the bag of sultanas had been 'breached' and ruined
I have a bag of prunes which are just past their sell-by date so it would be nice to use them instead as I can't see me being able to use them for anything else in the near future. I neither know tomato chutney nor prunes very well, so... any thoughts on whether it would work ?0 -
Definately! I think they would give it a lovely sweetness
Chop them finely

Zip
Didn't get to do it after all - started to feel unwell, but luckily, before I got started.
I'll post a taste-review when I've managed to do it!0 -
Hi
I made the minted plum recipe you gave us a link for, but did not write the quantities down and now it seems the link is invalid
Can you help me? Have you got the recipe written down?
I can return the favour with stacks of other chutney recipes!
In the meantime I am going to guess quantities and have a go anyway!
