Glad you're sorted - but you really shouldn't have to pop the machine into the freezer to install an OS so please do clean it out and ensure adequate ventilation (including underneath) when using

Been reading this thread with interest as I am planning to upgrade from XP on my home laptop. Have Windows 7 at work and it is great.
Whilst I know a 'bit' about computers I'm no techy ... think'll get someone in to give me a hand. I'd panic if something went wrong.
Happy surfing wrkactjob. :j
Good to know there were people prepared to help you out. :T
You can't upgrade XP to W7. You have to do a clean install. i.e. you have to back up all your data and reinstall any programs after installing W7. Everything you have under XP is lost (except for your back up).No free lunch, and no free laptop
