after trying on my dress, my mum thinks i will need a hooped petticoat to make my dress sit better.
since i know nothing about this which should i go for, one or two hoops?
ive been looking on ebay, and would ideally like to get one for under £15(in true MSE style)
this is my dress

That's beautiful.
No idea about hoops though, sorry0 -
Hey, gorgeous dress! My dress is a similar shape, and the lady in the shop said I would need 1 of the 2 hoop peticoats. I got 1 from ebay for £15, and it's exactly the same as the 1 you can hire from the shop for £60! Very MSE!!! Hope this helps xx:money:Trying to get debt-free:money:0

Lindaatno9 is your best bet, she will be able to help you by advising which petticoat you need for that style of dress.0

I'd go for a 122 (jupon) but you can't get these for much under £50. If it's a duchess satin dress, it can be quite weighty so you'd need something pretty substantial. My philosophy is you get what you pay for. E bay hoops may be perfectly fine, but I've yet to see one so am unable to comment.0

Try preloved too, there are a few people that are selling them, not sure on the makes.
One went with a maggie soretto dress that I really want. Read the listings as some of them are advertising wedding dresses with the hoops being sold seperate0 -

I have seen dresses on Ebay, that have the 'ebay' hoops underneath them and often (not always to be fair) you can actually see the 'rings'. So I am on this with Linda, go for a decent one as it be awful to ruin the 'look' of the dress for the sake of £30!
ETA Lindas website has a Petti page for brides to buy and sell theirs.:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -

I really want to avoid the unatural look that some hoops can give. Was thinking instead of going for a net petti. The dress i hope to get is quite a heavy satin with a full a-line skirt...I have seen a 5 layer net petticoat and was wondering if this would be too much with the couple of layers of net already in the dress. I just can't imagine how its going to hang, most petti's seem to be 3 layers so are 5 going to give me a massive skirt that I really don't want?
Anderson8...that dress is absolutely beautiful, really gorgeous0 -
