Guys,
I received some females nationwide flexaccount bank statement 1 week ago via post.
All with her bank account number, sort code, what she bought, what time, date and how much ect.
Just a warning so say that going paperless is a good idea. Not the banks fault of course.

Hmm, let me explain this one.
This particular person has the same door number as me but not sreet obviously. In the past my clothes even (ordered from catalogue) was sent to this address and I know that for a fact as I phoned the company and traced it as it was signed for.
Since then I have obviously hated this person for it (though got the goods in the end as the company is insured for such things 'lost' (cough stolen) in post.
So yeh I opened it. Mind you I destroyed it by burning it for her own sake.
Better than stealing my goods eh. Not that it would fit her or him lolHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

wow ! that is beyond petty !
First off it is illegal to open someone else's post , the right thing you should have done is to send the statement straight back to the bank. The statement is not meant for your eyes.

No it's not.
But I agree the right thing to do would be to return the statement to the bank.0 -

Interfering with mail - Postal Services Act 2000 Section 84
Triable Summarily (Magistrates court)
6 Months and or a fine (Max)
A person commits an offence if they without reasonable excuse intentionally delay or open a postal packet in the course of transmission by post or intentionally opens a mail bag.
A person commits an offence if, intending to act to a person's detriment and without reasonable excuse, opens a postal packet which they know or suspect to have been delivered incorrectly.
If you work for the Post service you could commit other offences under Section 83 triable either way (Magistrates or Crown court) and get a sentence of 2 years and or a fine.

See section 84 subsection 3

"A person commits an offence if, intending to act to a person’s detriment and without reasonable excuse, he opens a postal packet which he knows or reasonably suspects has been incorrectly delivered to him."
Merely opening a letter addressed to someone else is not an offence.
An offence is commited if there is an intention to act to the persons detriment and there is no reasonable excuse for doing so.0
