    Correct, I just found this;

    " On 28 December 2001, the Government announced the intention to permit the display of national flags and national identifiers on vehicle number plates. The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 are in the process of being amended. They will provide for the voluntary display of the Union flag, Scottish Saltire, Cross of St George and Red Dragon. Football team crests etc. are not allowed "

    If you have anything other than the EU strip with the GB symbol (or nothing at all) you need to display a separate GB sticker if you take your car abroad.

    ^^ Too busy hiding behind wheelie bins :rotfl:

    Seriously though, I see tons of cars around here with blatantly illegal plates (wrong fonts and spacing etc). All the highly illegal plates i've seen in the last 12 months are still around every day.
    Mostly seems to be new shape Range Rovers though, which is slightly odd.

    Edit - ooops :)

    His plates get a mention at the foot of the report.

    He also admitted having a registration plate which did not adhere to regulations.

    He was fined £235 with £300 costs

    Hi, I need new number plates for my 206 and was thinking of just going to Halfords for them and getting them to fit them. I was just wondering what writing do they put along the bottom of the plates? I hope it's not a Halfords logo!

    I bought number plates from halfords. The sample plate had a discreet logo the plates I got had HALFORDS in big writing. I got my money back and bought them on line which turned out to be quicker and cheaper :D

    You no longer need a GB sticker

    Since when?

    I'm just arranging a motoring trip abroad and all the advice I have seen says the exact opposite.

    Just one example...
    GB sticker: You need to put a GB sticker on your car; if not you will get an on-the-spot fine. If you have a Euro-symbol on your number plate (BS AU 145d standard) then you don’t need a GB sticker when driving in Europe. But if you go outside the EU, and that includes Switzerland, you need a GB sticker as well.

    I did get my plates from Halfords shortly after I originally posted this topic. The logo on mine is like the one in the sample photo above. You can hardly see it. :)
