Whats a fair amount for compensation?

  • OMG - is this a site for consumers, or for 'support the poor old retailers' - dunkirk was a long time ago, i paid for & ordered 2 sofas well in time for xmas and ended up not getting them - come on guys (and girls) - should we expect what we pay for or not!! And...............(there's more!!) should i expect to have to accept further items from the same retailer as compensation - i think not but thats just my little old opinion :p
  • OP - you have suffered a loss that can't be quantified .....yes it would have been nice to have had your sofas for Christmas but you didn't and you had something to sit on (maybe not as comfy as your new sofas which you've already said you like).

I know Dunkirk was a long time ago (I do know my history) - my point was that there was a time when consumers would have put the issue into context ie nobody was harmed, put in a life threatening position or (and more importantly) died and accepted the compensation on offer.

If you don't want the vouchers then by all means push for a cash refund but I don't think the inconvenience you 'suffered' would be worth more.

btw I think Martin would say that this site is to ensure fairness to all - both the consumers and companies alike - regardless of whether some members think differently!

  • When we were first married, we spent the first year using deck chairs as we couldn't afford proper furniture.

OP - look at this realistically - you didn't have to sit crossed legged on the carpet - you had furniture to sit on even it wasn't your nice new sofas

Sometimes I wonder where the Dunkirk spirit has gone..........

Not being funny, but Dunkirk was crap.

All queuing on the beach, up to their necks in water with Jerry bombing them night and day, not so much as a kiosk open to get a Cornetto and then when they got back home Vera bleedin' Lynn squawking away.

I think sometimes people look at the war with rose-tinted specs :(

I'm glad you didn't, your exploding sofa post made me laugh so much I don't even mind the tea that's now all over my lappy :D
