lynzpower wrote:Ive just got off the phone from the union ewho were actually quite good.
They are saying there needs to be some sort of meeting where the union force them further to consider homeworking and as the LA is all going wireless soon, then maybe there will be opportunities in another division that I can do. I said Im happy to stuff envelopes at home, anything really, so the union will look into this when the meeting is called.
Union said that I can be sacked for ill health, so yes, it is right. Although they have to prove that they have done all they can to support me in my illness and as per him they havent really started yet. Hes right. No discussion about homeworking has really happened yet, so I suspect once this is exhausted we know what we are dealing with.
Hi Lynz - I seem to follow you round these boards, often see your postings.Sorry to hear about this.
Yes, that's what I was going to say. You clearly have a disability - something that has a detrimental affect on your day to day life. The employer has the responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to try to keep you employed. Your union will prob be encouraging employers to set up a meeting in which the adaptations you need to enable you to remain working are explored. IF they try to get rid of you without doing this, you have an excellent case at tribunal.......:p
Googling 'reasonable adjustments' will bring up lots of helpful stuff - for eample, this http://www.papworth.org.uk/engagingemployers/adjustment_datasheet.shtml is quite good.
Good luck - keep us informed!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
thanks very much for all this people, this board really is a tresure trove
I have considered "disability" and how/if it applies to me, and Ive always been rather reluctant to label myself. Mind you i suppose id prefer to class myself as disabled than have to tell everyone i meet about my womb
thanks again

Sorry to hear that - sounds awful. Can't help on the employment side much, but hopefully on the condition side. Firstly, I would agree with the previous poster that it might be worth getting the IUD removed - I'm surprised, in fact, that you were given that, as use of an IUD is associated with a higher risk of PID. IMO, if that's been given to you for extreme menstrual pain, you'd be better off having a hormonal contraceptive, such as Depo-Provera to reduce or even cease your periods. Yes, there is a slight increase in risk of certain cancers with this, as with HRT (same hormones used), but on the other hand, it protects against some cancers as well. It might be worth going to a family planning clinic and having a chat with them about your options, as they're usually far more clued up than GPs. At the age of 28, it seems a bit scare-mongering to suggest you'll get cancer if you have a combined hormone treatment rather than progestogen-only.
Secondly, you've had a laparascopy, but have they checked fully for endometriosis? Symptoms can be very similar to PID, and even with a laparoscopy, it's not always clear where the problem lies, particularly if you had the laparoscopy at a time other than during your period. Again, Mirena could be a problem here, as it might mask the symptoms of the endometriosis and thus make the lesions harder to find.
Thirdly, presumably you've been checked for any infections, but has this been ongoing, and if you have a partner, has he been checked too? Might be worth checking with your GP if all avenues have been explored for the root cause.0 -
Yes we are all checked out, and nothings showing up sadly Tawny.
Well I was on the Depo and they advised me to come off it. I havent had periods for some years, partly depo, partly god knows what, so the pain isnt menstrual. Try as I might I cant get an appointment with the FPC as they are all "nurse led" no one will remove the coil. I too was surprised with the PID thing after I found out, asked my gynacologist, he said " oh dont worry about it" Great, thanks for that, Ive had 5 lots of PID, im probably infertile in any case :wall:
they gave me the mirena at the same time as they did the lap. they are certain I dont have anything apart from seriosuly scarred tubes from the PID. I asked if the scarring could cause pain they said no
Oh I dunno.... Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Have you considered seeing a different gynacologist privately? I know you might not be keen as you are DFW but may be worth at least getting another view about what the options may be.0

Hey Hun
You could actually get the Mirena removed at a family planning clinic without any problems.
I try not to label myself either as being "disabled" and Im in a wheelchair most the time, so understand completely where your coming from.
Would suggest you applying for DLA. It goes on how your diability effects you and not on diagnosis. I am hopig to have my DLA reviewed and increased and am gathering "evidence" ATM..lol. I thik I should qualify, but you never know with these kind of benefits, but if you dont apply you will never know and even if awarded the low rate, financially it will help a little.
Poverty Stricken Student-Can you explain what you mean by "With DLA i think you also exempt from road tax if your a driver. You could also apply to get a freedom bus pass which entitles you to free travel train/bus/ etc. "....Ive never heard of this before.

hi sorry to butt in
if you get the higher rate of dla for 'help with getting around' you could be entitled to tax exemption on your car.
son has d/s becoming an expert on correctly wording things on forms lol
also i think it doesn't need to be your car .....any car thats used to help you get around0 -
I agree with Pennypincher. Even if the FPC is 'nurse led', they should still have a doctor there at least a day or two a week, usually specifically to fit/remove coils. If necessary, try another clinic - it's not like a GP; you don't have to be registered with a particular one, so ring round till you find one that can remove a coil - I'm sure a friend would be able to take you to your appointment, especially as FPCs usually have evening appointments available.
It seems very odd that they took you off Depo only to put you onto Mirena, as they're both progestogen-based (although slightly different forms).
I dunno - all seems a bit iffy to me - I agree with armarda; might be time to seek another opinion if at all possible.0 -
im tending towards that but finances how they are at the mo it just doenst seem feasible. a 1st consultation will be 250 god knows what the tests will cost. iM Relucttntt to change Gps in case they run me through years of tests all over again, effectively its the hospital putting the kaibosh on investigtions, not my GP.
I dont have a car, couldnt anyway as this is a car free development ( plus no money to buy one) in any case IM not safe to drive, I keep fazing out. A taxi card would be good, but having adminstered the service myself Im fairly sure I woudlnt get anywhere near one:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Hi Lynz, I dont mean to undermine your health problems but have you ever thought you might be suffering from a severe yeast infection http://www.candidayeastinfection.com/symptoms-of-yeast-infection.htmhttp://www.newlifevitamins.com/faq.shtml
There is a simple home tested explained on these sites that you can do to find out. OH has cured his acid reflux by taking this Threelac stuff and half of it is left over so he gave it to me and I have been taking it for a few weeks and my cystitis symptoms that I have been suffering with all my life have started to ease. Also I had mucus around my eyes when I woke up (sounds disgusting i know) and that has completely gone in a few days. We paid £95 for the Threelac and the Oxygen drops but it has been worth every penny. However, we did test positive before we paid out for it. If you do the home test (the spit test) and it proves positive, I think you should be brave and should get the coil removed and then try the Threelac. You will need to take it for at least a couple of months. It is working well for me and OH seems like his old self, full of energy. If you are borrowing money from your parents then an extra £100 could make a lot of difference to you. I'm not saying it will be a cure all but if you read up about yeast infections they can cause all sorts of problems, including menstrual problems. You will probably hate me if this doesnt work but i just felt that i couldnt not mention it to you. Have a read up about it anyway and see what you think. It might save your job. BTW I agree with the others you should not resign under any circumstances. They have done nothing for you. Good luck. Sorry things are so bad at the moment.http://www.newlifevitamins.com/faq.shtmlThe forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
