Also it seems that my boss ( who i like & have a lot of time for) suggesting I should "jump before being pushed" which I understand, altho in a right old quandary now.

They always say that - ignore it. Hang on for grim death, and seek advice.

No one wants to be sacked, but it takes longer and so gets you more wages than resigning. I know that is a mercenary way of looking at it, but it's the way they're looking at it as well (hence the "advice" your boss gave you).

    ZTD, thank you.
I know your right and jesus I was a union rep !!!!!! for bloody years, I dont know what Im on about. But the pressure of it. You see I guess I wouldnt feel so bad if I was in a company, but this is the taxpayer paying me. Mind you " the tresury" have saved themselves/us a fortune by not properly caring for me so far so I guess swings & roudabouts.

Does anyone know if I can do volunteering while on sick. the main problem is a) the heat and b) transport. I thought if there was a local thing i could do say a half day/ 1 day a week, then this might help my prospects and my emotional health. this was suggested by my manager actually, she feels that being cooped up here waiting for the doctors to say jump makes me low ( correct some of the time)

I take what you mean ZTD about my boss, does anyone have any thoughts about whether these suggestions shes made could land me in trouble. As I said I feel I could do a local job or work from home, as its the transport thats killing me the most

And IM not sure I would get DLA or any of those allowances as I dont have a diagnosis- anyone know if this is the case??

That's the idea. Increase the pressure, until the person at the other end folds. It isn't fair, but they don't care about fairness, only with what they can get away with. Don't expect your managers to remember anything they've said to you which might be a bit on the dodgy side either - there's more amnesia in management than in your average care-home.

This is the least of your worries. Waste is endemic in LAs. Running out of money? Just raise taxes or borrow more. I've seen £5 mil wasted (in both real and opportunity costs) because they wouldn't get rid of a bad manager - or at least not until the director that employed him retired.

    What's your wage in that?

I wouldn't - it'll most probably be held against you. "Well enough to volunteer..."

Have you got kid(s)? Then make a request to work from home as part of the "Child Friendly" laws that were passed recently(ish). They have to consider your request formally, and give a formal reply.

No idea unfortunately, however I would have expected it to be symptom based, rather than diagnosis based.

P.S. 3:11 am? Get some sleep! :naughty:

It's definitely worth taking advice from CAB or other welfare benefit advisers about DLA, it's not income related so you could potentially get it regardless of your income situation and in addition to any other benefits you might claim at any time. You say you don't have a diagnosis but you have a history of doctor and hospital/consultant visits and you could ask them to submit their info for your form.

Lynz - can you change GP surgery at all? It's ridiculous that that coil hasn't been removed yet. I think getting the coil removed is the first kind of priority then at least you won't have the sweats etc. And fingers crossed the pelvic pain will have ceases too!

have you enquired about working from home? Is that possible in your job? Laptops are pretty cheap for an LA to buy, & they must have other staff who log on from outside so there may be an option there......surely worth asking the question as you'd be no further back if they say "no" and if it IS possible, you're laughing (well, maybe until it hurts :)) And surely they have to explore other avenues before they can finish you - get in touch with OH and the Union.

Chin up, Lynz, I'm sure you can overcome this problem with your OH as the big support he is :A

Ive just got off the phone from the union ewho were actually quite good.

they are saying this volutary work idea is out, as of course I could be at work instead. Shame as Ive seen something I really quite fancy 2 mins walk from my house, one day a week.

They are saying there needs to be some sort of meeting where the union force them further to consider homeworking and as the LA is all going wireless soon, then maybe there will be opportunities in another division that I can do. I said Im happy to stuff envelopes at home, anything really, so the union will look into this when the meeting is called.

Union said that I can be sacked for ill health, so yes, it is right. Although they have to prove that they have done all they can to support me in my illness and as per him they havent really started yet. Hes right. No discussion about homeworking has really happened yet, so I suspect once this is exhausted we know what we are dealing with.

Stick it out Lynz, you & OH pay your council tax, so effectively YOU are paying your wages - don't resign, wait for them to find you something more suitable as they should be doing under Disablilty legislation. I didn't catch how long you've been ill, but since December last year, if you have had this condition for over 12 months, they CANNOT sack you as you should be classed as Disabled. Check out the Disability Discrimination Act. :)

This is not strictly true Floss :) People who are disabled under the DDA CAN be dismissed due to their health problems. However, to get to that stage the employer must have exhausted all avenues that the DDA requires them to consider.

I'm glad the union are being helpful Lynz, hopefully they can put some pressure on for some homeworking possibilities to be properly considered. I can't help thinking there must be something you can do from home (even basic stuff at first, as you say) as your symptoms only seem to stop you from getting to work, not really from doing any work at all.

Good luck for whenever that meeting is, do you have a day for it? It must be so frustrating feeling unsure what to do and being stuck in the meantime with nothing to do! The sooner they can really put some effort into finding something for you, the better.

    Best of luck
