  • Fasthosts are pretty good. All my websites are with them either on shared hosting or on my dedicated linux server. They are fairly middle ground in terms of cost.

if you want loads of space then byethost offers plenty of space with no ads, and when i accidentally broke the rules i found their customer services to be efficient with my site being re-activated the same day...

i have to say that ismywebsite.com offers excellent support. although they require you to self place adverts they you will never have to pay a penny. whilst still in the planning stage of your website you get 100mb to play around with but as your website becomes more popular you get your webspace expanded and you will never have to pay a penny for their services no matter how popular your site gets. one other thing, ismywebsite offer extensive tutorials and will happily answer any questions you have.
  • I use 3ix, they are very cheap and pretty good on customer service only downside is they aren't always good for site uptime but will hide behind a 99.9% uptime guarantee like pretty much all the hosting companies out there.

Haven't actually tried their hosting packages, I own the domain and host it through them but decided to self host, rather have my own hardware than theirs :D

  • I use "Galaxy Web Solutions". They fufil what I need. It gets cheaper if you pay annually rather than quarterly etc.

Try showing those pictures to the bailiffs as they knock on your door demanding 1&1 money.

    DO NOT
use 1&1 unless all other companies have died and hell has frozen over.

I can see a T shirt slogan coming into view.

    I agree with this.

Approx 5 years ago I told 1&1 to let a domain name I had expire, they didn't do it so I got hounded by a Debt company for £13, didn't give them it though and told them where they can stick it. Never heard anything back after that :j

I've recenty moved from GoDaddy to https://www.RochenHost.com
They are hosting only so you have to buy your domain somewhere else (Like GoDaddy or a another cheap provider)
Rochen's Prices are roughly the same as GoDaddy.

I like the setup and they use CPanel which makes it easy to set things up.

Also they also have WebDAV set up, so you can link your Hosting's "www" folder to a desktop folder for easy drag and drop.

I use 1and1 and am not really impressed with them. I have just moved over 3 of my domains to www.justhost.com and so far so good. I got 50% and costs me under £2 a month including a free domain. They also have an impressive range of apps. So far so good, only time will tell. Yahoo hosts one of my domains and email and are probably one the worst companies of all times. Shocking customer service and really bad tech support as well.
