More importantly, what are YOU planning on doing with itA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Well not had much to update on lately really, but will try and go through where we are
Had a lovely day yesterday working in the garden, we got a few turfs and patched up part of our garden. I finished the last bug box and my husband has fit a sensor to our outside light, all the little jobs that make a difference. I have also found a place for 'owlf' on top of my 'window boxes' near my olive tree so it kind of looks like he's in the tree. We've created a little seating area in the garden so once the turf has taken I can set it up- this part of the garden looks great obviously the other half is a pile of bricks but doing these little things really please meOf course, and what this is all about it that these little things cost money, what can I say satisfaction of getting things done vs sitting there doing nothing, ultimately doing these little jobs saves money in time if nothing else though admittedly bug boxes are not adding money to our house but i guess these little things are 'life enhancing'!!!
We went shopping late last night and spent £44 including a top £3.50 for our daughter, however my husband was completely in the right place at the right time and has got some AMAZING bargains which I hope will allow the next few weeks shop to be top ups only...2 choc desserts 10p, 3xveggie toad in hole 20p each, 2 packs of ham not out of date at all 10p and 30p, cooked chicken breast 20p, frying steak 50p, pizza 10p, turkey breast 30p, 4x gammon/cheese steak things (was 2 for £5.50) 10p each, cheese and chicken escalopes 10p, stir fry 10p, diced chicken breast 30p. My husband is very happy as he likes to eat a lot. Unfortunately in my husbands electrical work the garage electric has gone off which hopefully we can sort today but it means that our freezer is very packed as we have one in the garage too which is out of order:cool:
Looks like I should be getting some money back from british gas at the end of the month. I don't know where we are money wise this month but I know its bad re credit card, I am finding it hard to be as strict as we once were....I think I'd like to use the new year as a new starting point but I am torn a bit in that I think we are slightly happier feeling under less pressure, it would be interesting to know how much more we spend relaxed vs strict or whether we just punish ourselves more!!
Regarding building its all good. one lots of neighbours have sold straight away and we saw the new neighbours looking at where are extension is going to be so its obviously come up in the searches and that was about a week ago and its not reappeared on rightmove so hopefully they are not bothered. My husband got a quote for the rest of the materials as a starting point and I am inclined for him to gather any bargains that come along really... We've seen a couple of things we've wanted on ebay etc and they've since gone up and so I think if theres a bargain it should be grabbed but I guess we need to just keep check on it. My husband has decided that the next 'stopping point' will be first floor floor level, I thought this would cost loads but he says he could do that for about £500 as we already have lots of bricks so tbh I think we should just do it. After that it will be a bit more expensive because we are getting a brick layer to do the neighbours wall as my husband fair enough doesn't want any grief though it is quite possible the new neighbours won't mind, but I think the brick layer is still probably the way to go. Our father in law is doing the roof but we will need to pay him because he will be taking time off work to do it, I think our major savings have been labour really. Last weekend my husband did the path out the front of our house which is amazing and some people stopped and told him so he was pleased it was really cute
Hoping can get some more work done today, I love it i can't help it, not sure my husband does as much but he has next week off so I think its ok. Might post another piccie

Well done on the food bargains!! I have got some good bargains being in the right place at the right time- never find much reduced in meat/pizzas etc. tho is usually fruit and veg! at least its healthy I guess :rotfl:
Pic looks lovely I can see why you love it .
Well done on the gardern- what are bug boxes by the way (have an image of loads of little creepy crawlies wandering round in them!)
Interesting thoughts whether being slightly more relaxed around money actually makes you spend less in the long term...I am reading a book at the moment actually which is along a similar vein that the more "deprived" you feel, be that being on a "diet" a "budget" whatever, the more likely you will have a kind of "stuff it , I deserve it" blow out with money ( or chocolate cake!) Its quite an interesting thought and I think definitely relavent to how I think about/spend money...anyway, my two cents worth think relaxing more around it may well have a similar effect to balancing out the budgets and spending frenzys (for me anyway!)

Pic looks good. I took a few pics of the kids on the beach last month and am thinking of putting it on a canvas althought they are quite dear. Its great to have pics like that to take you back to when you felt good and had a good time. I love sunset viewsMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
