We did have an unexpected purchase tho.... we bought some tiles for our ensuite floor (which I know is crazy seeing as the extension isnt built) but they were £20 to do the whole floor and discontinued, they look like sand/beachDebating whether to get the tiles for the cats room floor, they have the same ones in black, so I think it would cost about £30??? We'll see. Hubby needs £50 more in building equipment and he reckons that will have him going for a couple of months, he is making amazing progress. In september he has to do another professional membership which he will need to work for so around that time he will have to have a building break, hopefully he will pass and another payrise will be on the way!
This all sounds very promising. Your house will feel so different when you have all that extra space.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Thanks v, gotta say this month we both felt quite excited about the balance, don't usually get get excited about them midway between the big ones but this one felt good. Its so expected due to spreadsheets etc that we already know where we are every month so theres less excitement normally.
Thanks Cath it will be great so far away but just to be started feels better if that makes senseMortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 170 -
Weekly shop came in at £48 this was a little disappointing but completely my fault as I spent about £12-13 on NON essentials thanks to the 25% off clothes and bought my daughter a few bits. That means for sure that next week I mustn't buy any!! Next week we have our last £10 off £50 voucher so we need to get it to as close to £40 as poss, we have about £7 in nectar points we are just going to put off the balance and some cash in the cupboard, if we can keep any of this for the shopping hopefully that will reduce what goes on the credit card.
Hubby has won another pizza so that dinner sorted one night as well- probably tonight!
Was going to do a round up of everything...
Challenge for 1st June mortgage was £55740 and balance is £55735 ACHIEVED
Challenge for 1st June Sainsburys card was £4150 and 1st July was £4626, really hard to know when to mark this as buying food and petrol all the time but current balance is £4360 so we havent got much left to spend this month so going to have to say FAILED (gonna have to try and not let this deficit get us behind!)
Challenge for 7th June tescos card (when money comes out) is £1290, we have £965 to pay off this this month so balance will be £1275 so ACHIEVED
Will confirm this when payment goes through on the 7th!!:money:Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

I'm spending loads of money in Mr S too, it's shocking really! Think DD has enough clothes for the Summer but it's hard to resist pretty items isn't it.
Well done for achieving your mortgage goal, the spreadsheets are a brilliant motivator aren't they.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I love buying her clothes so much! We've been on a budget since we had her and so I feel like half of her wardrobe is gifts and I like picking things myself!!
They definately are- I think I need to look at the bigger picture more, I seem to forget about that and criticise, I need to remember what we've done- do you remeber to do that?Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

I think it's important sometimes to sit back and reflect and perhaps summarise what you have achieved so far. I sometimes think 'i've only knocked 6 months off my mortgage and I've OP'd loads' but I think we need to remember the cumulative effect of our OP's and for me realise that I have knocked 6 months off in a 12 month period of making OP's. Maybe I could do that every year?
Sometimes I look at my outstanding balance and think I should be doing more but for our income we do very well. We need more self praise instead of self criticism. This is why I love this forum as if you're having a down day others can help you see the impact your efforts are making even if you feel like you're not really getting anywhere.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
