OOOOH OOOH! I 've been paid a whole 24hours early, haha and guess what its gone into the mortgage pit! Final £600 of overpayment for august...
The £350 to get us to 85k should come off from our monthly payment on monday, if its a tiny bit short (£2 at most) will round off of course.
Well I'll be in trouble with the husband now, £329 without direct debits now for food, petrol, 1 wedding present, 1 birthday party, 1 birthday and 2 meals out.... no problemo. Plus I have sneaky extras like child benefit and possibly £100 from quidco. Will try not to mob the husband who has already said he has £100 more than he needs this month...
Will update with stats on monday, as of then I've been back at work a year, grrrrrMortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 170 -
Well mortgage came off today! I have estimated it slightly wrong by 63p which meant we went under 85k, so it was only polite to round it down to £84999!
Some analysis;
Total interest- £106.88
Daily Interest- £3.45
Total paid off in monthly payment- £350.63
Balance- £84999
Ahead by £1201
Total paid off since returning to work 3-8-09- £32482
Total paid off this month- £2701 (including just before being paid)
Just for comparison purposes last August my daily interest was £4.65, £144.27 for the month and £332.51 paid off. So at our pay off rate each month seems to save us 10p a day.
Otherwise...hubby did an ok shop hehe, were at the same bank now so our joint account can be seen on both our internet banking. He spent £38 but only took £30 from the budget, hes been earning slightly more lately which has eased things a little. We have got through 1 birthday and a leaving do so far, managed to cost us £16 for the leaving meal but my parents treated us all to my sisters birthday dinnerI think this month will be easier now as just 4 weeks!
I think I have about £5 in valued opinions account tho I need to check...
Think that is most of this months action over and done with now! I would like to try and scrape an extra £69 for next month if at all possible to aim for £82300, but wel see, I think hubby is really getting into it now so we might be lucky!!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

have just been reading your diary and can I just say well done!! you are doing great with the OPs (and am impressed you manage to keep track of 7 cats and the rest of the animals!) cant wait till I can get to the point of being where you are (on the mortgage front -not the cat front, am just about persuading mr that we can get a dog when we move to a bigger place! ;o) )0 -
Hey young one, I think the animals keep track of me haha. Good luck with your journey too, I had a read of your diary last night
I need to get into all the diaries i think iv read them all but then i get a bit muddled up haha
Just to say I had to laugh at onepoll last night, I had to say what I thought when I looked in someones shopping trolley ie if there is a cucumber in their trolley would you think they were wealthy or poor...not even an inbetween, seriously I must of missed a box as it kept making me fill it all out again and again and everytime it submitted it blanked it all again, all for 15p grrrrrrrr. I mean how does this help anyone, excpet me, a bit!
Right thats it for now!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

hmmm..the 15p survey sounds very odd!! maybe its really a survey on how easily people get annoyed when the surveys dont work! I have no idea whether cucumber would mean someone is rich or poor????
I know what you mean about getting confused with whose diaries is whos! maybe that just means I spend too much time on here!....0 -
i try to keep up with a couple and then add a new one every so on!
grrrrrr microwave is broken, about £200 to fix and £500 new as it is integrated, my sis is moving in 2weeks and has a new microwave that is integrated in her new kitchen (i think) so I will try and snag a freebies for now!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

Hubby had a good shop this week only £30 which is great, I 'think' we may have this month sussed. Need to get a few bits today as long as I am controlled think it could all go well.
I really want the solar panels on the newsletter but as we are not sure what will happen with our roof, can't really go for it t the mo.
I've just spent about 2 hours doing surveys grrrrrr, but they were quite high in points so kind of justified.
Been thinking about life in general, at this rate we should pay mortgage off mar/apr 2013, I really want to aim for dec 2012, even if it is including the end of december payment which I usually consider the january payment if that makes sense. This means we have to find another £231 a month which isn't really possible. Although will taxing change in january which will make us earn slightly more? Really a payrise should sort this but it doesnt seem to come haha. Obviously this is all interest rate dependant although if it doesn't go up alot until end of next year it can't really spoil our plan too much.
We'd planned to pay off mortgage, pay off loan, pay off my parents, build extension and then have another baby. If we have a holiday too we are realistically looking at about a 6year age gap, which I think is a long gap plus I'm not sure at 36 and after a holiday I'll be too keen to do it all again. I'm thinking perhaps once the mortgage is paid we should try again for a baby, which would be a 5 year age gap but at least I can be home for when our daughter starts school- I really feel I must be there when she gets in.
Anyway whatever we do doesn't change much at the mo, just gotta keep going. Realistically on one salary we can still do alot just not as quickly. Hubby is definately more involved in it all now so that helps.
Will try not to spend too much today!
Gotta decide whether to switch our phone to sky bearing in mind the bt price hikes, tho we still need line rental so not sure if its cheaper or not!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

I just couldn't help myself...I needed cheering up, in anticipation of a child benefit payment and a bit extra from not spending too much on food I have paid off £99 to make a nice round £84900, would like to see my £95 cashback from sky any time soon...Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

oooooooh I have another £10 voucher from my shopping scanning... the food on the go is fantastic for points!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!

I received my ipsos voucher the other day I now have £45 to spend on amazon! Would like another £20 ideally but may make it up depending.
Just got child benefit today. We have £80 for 1 food shop and petrol by the end of the month I think that will be ok.
Hubby's latest food shop was £37 which was pretty good I thought.
I was hoping that sky might pay before the end of the month (quidco cashback) but think I'm probably being too hopeful, would be nice to be before the mortgage update but we shall see.
All of our direct debits have come out this month now so I feel like I want to switch onto my september page! 10 days til payday now and I am hoping that we can target for £82100 next month, tho that does rely on the £95 from sky so if not £82200, this will definately allow us to break the 80k barrier next month! If we can do what I am aiming to pay off I would like to get to exactly 74k for the next MFIT entry in December, which means getting organised for xmas very early! We are online for our mortgage to be under 10k when this challenge finishes, which is secretly frustrating as even if we include our last december paypacket we will still owe just over 6k! We also have building work etc, to do I would love to finish with challenge with everyone else so will have to see what more we can manage to do, however I suspect I will just have to learn to be happy with our achievement anyway! I feel secretly bad as I am managing to pay off more than I thought so I've been in the green everytime so perhaps initially I underestimated our ability to be so tight!
Have to pay a vets bill and would like to get some cables so I guess I could really be paying a bit more but its nice to have a few treats
Right will update with next food bill- I feel we are maintaining an ok budget tho hubby has bought a couple of extra bits and I do tend to forget to include his stuff!Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
