I agree with you, no one wants slightly older kittens.
When my Missy (from CPL- assured was spayed, wasn't..was pregnant) gave birth last year, I did exactly what the vet said. Had all their first jabs done, wormed them, had mum spayed asap. Waited until they were 12 weeks to advertise them, I simply wanted the cost of the jabs back. No one wanted them.. one person told me they were looking for "a cute 6 week old fluffy one."
I ended up keeping all 4 (6 cats in total) until they were 6 months, had them all done and tried rehoming them again. Luckily, they all found new homes and the new owner didn't mind me checking out their home for suitability.
Oh, kept one kitten, Marley the Brat Cat. Now have 3 "done" cats and would never, ever believe anyone that a female cat had been spayed without vet proof. Found kitten hood far more stressful than dealing with a newborn baby.0
