I could sympathise with how you were feeling though cos stress does make you think strange things....
It was horrible...and one of the worst experiences of my life. At least now I can feel it coming on and can talk to myself rationally before slipping into the madness!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I've heard a lot of people with experience of ASD's think that Curious Incident is a bit cliched and concentrates on what people assume them to be like. I can't think of the word I'm looking for, but like the scene on the train is just typical of what people think of when they think of someone with autism.
It's hard to say Ames, because some people ARE very much like the stereotype, but there are also many that aren't.
I think though that pretty much anything that brings ASCs into the public eye is a positive, so I don't stress over a little stereotyping or generalisation."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Snags, has Ryan read the curious incident of the dog in the night-time? Apparently it's a really good insight to how people on the spectrum think and feel but it's also a great fictional book.
I love that book Gemmzie, I read it in one go whilst on holiday in NYC! My partner at the time wasn't too pleased.

Sal, I know just what you mean, I call it spiralling, and I picture it as being like a whirlpool, where at first you are just being pulled in fairly gently and can still escape if you spot it in time, but if you don't, you get pulled closer to the middle and are being pulled faster and harder, making it more and more difficult to get out, and more inevitable that you will go under.
I've been aware of spiralling quite a lot this last year and have been doing quite well at escaping before it got to the point where I couldn't."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Ive also noticed that I start to get that feeling if I have eaten food or drink with a lot of caffeine in. Too much chocolate really starts my head racing...good reason to give it up isn't it!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway.
