Are you mad??? I like pretty things as much as the next girl... but it can't be that pretty! How about getting her an ultra cheap one to propose with and then choose one together?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Just read OP past posts....he's just received 60k inheritance,, has his own home and is looking at getting a second and currently saves 37% of his income.
Go for it OP, hope the lucky lady says Yes!:money: Martin Lewis Rocks!:money:0 -
Even if the OP can afford it GF may not feel safe/comfortable walking round with such an expensive rock on her finger. As someone else has suggested, propose with a token ring, or one you can return and then go and choose one together - she'll love you more for it!We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0

Then why is he looking for help with how he can fund a £12k ring??
And I still reckon that the fiancee will be looking for a wedding with ALL the bells and whistles if he spends that amount on her engagement ring.0 -
Use your savings then!!
Then sell your house for the wedding, and use your inheritence on honeymoon and babies...
Once you splash out it will be expected ALL round imo!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Well if that's true, he doesn't need help in funding it.
So either fabrication or showing off?(dammit I need the confused smilie again!!:D)0 -
Win the lottery? Or find somthing cheaper. Why waste 12K on one ring, you could spend less on the ring and put any extra money towards the wedding instead? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I would be so mad if my OH spent that on a ring!! Put it towards the wedding instead and get her a nice ring that she won't be afraid to wear. I can recommend http://www.samarajames.com/ it's where mine came from
