  • I am certain that you are on the same tariff as I am. There is no early exit fee, it's a 2 tier tariff and there are no standing charges. There are annual discounts for DD and dual fuel.

If you go onto one of the comparison sites you'll find the tariff in the drop down boxes under Online Dual Fuel v5. You won't find it on the EDF site.

Im with EDF as well, i used to be with SP and i could put as many readings in as i liked and it would automatically generate a bill.

Seems with EDF you can still put reading in but the only one that matters is when the bill is due every 3 months and only then it will generate a bill

On the no standing charge tariff, are all units priced equally or are the first X number of units charged at a higher rate ?

  • I was with SP too. It seems with EDF it doesn't matter when you submit readings, they just ignore and send out a quarterly bill based on a request they send out by e-mail every quarter.

On the Online Dual Fuel Version 5 NSC tariff:

Gas - the first 2680 kWh are charged at the higher Band A rate and the remainder at the Band B rate.

Electricity - the first 900 kWh are charged at the higher Band A rate and the remainder at the Band B rate.
  • I'm the same as some of you in that I used to be with SP and then switched to EDF v5. I too have been submitting meter reading through the EDF website and found that they don't automatically generate a new bill as SP used to do. I contacted EDF and they confirmed that they generate the bills every 3 months and to submit the readings at that time.
Although I'm happy with the EDF v5 tariff, I did like the SP system that automatically generated a new bill each time you submitted a new meter reading.

Wont there also be a standing charge?

http://smartmeter.ukpower.co.uk/ is what it says, smart, works out all the standing charges for you. The only thing it doesn't do is subtract any discounts so things only get better, not worse.

Thanks JennyR68, that is good to know and what a handy web-site! :)
